general If you could do anything what would it be?

I would do that too. I miss her a lot. :)

Well if I have the power to have one wish, it would be the ability to comprehend it entirely after reading it or perceiving it the first time through.

I've actually fantasized what would I do if I had an arbitrarily large amount of money, or if I had a stupendous amount of leverage in the world somehow. A couple of the ideas that roll around in my head are as follows:

One would be to open up a really nice restaurant, and call it the Friend & Pho Vietnamese Bar & Grill. I know nothing about how to be a restaurateur nor anything really about cuisine, Vietnamese or otherwise. I just like vermicelli. The entire point would be to have a restaurant making use of that pun for a name, and the one credential requirement I would have would be that the food would be good enough that the chef would want to eat there. If at all possible, I would see if the Bar could connect itself to the enormous variety of microbreweries in British Columbia, so that there could be dozens, perhaps even a hundred, local beers on tap. Everything from Parallel 49 to, Red Truck, Fernie Alpine to Nelson Brewers, Granville Island, the whole smack.

Another would be to make a big startup on Marine Energy in British Columbia. Of the two ideas, this would be significantly riskier and much more expensive (in the order of hundreds of millions of dollars easily), but I like the fact that British Columbia quietly maintains its station as one of the proportionately biggest users of hydroelectricity in the world. More than 90% of BC's power comes from hydroelectric dams, and I bet the remainder could easily be covered by wind farms (coastal or mountainous), tidal barriers, or underwater current turbines, making use of the sea's movement to generate electricity. Any of those, or enhanced geothermal power systems. Most of those technologies may not sound very clear to you, and that's because most of these technologies (all of which are entirely renewable and cause 0 pollution) are not very well explored yet, and relatively new. Making Canada into an innovator and pushing up British Columbia's culture as one of green energy and a place of the future is very much in my personal interests.

@, in the video game Half Life 2 there's a technology called the "suppression field", which is used by the villains in the game to effectively sterilize the human race; it "selectively prevents certain protein chains from forming", which circumvents pregnancy through an electromagnetic field of some kind. (It's the in-game explanation for why there are no characters under the age of 25 in the Half Life 2 universe.)

I had an idea for a fan-fiction a long time ago, where human Resistance members get a hold of that technology, reverse-engineer it and begin using it to systematically annihilate diseases and parasitic lifeforms, literally overnight.

Hmm, that's interesting! I mean the whole energy thing. Personally, if I had power over something like that I'd up the amount of nuclear power, considering its very productive and clean for the environment. The thing is though, the majority of the nuclear technology we have is 80 years old-ish so I'd probably invest in newer and safer nuclear technology.

Hm... There are three options:

  • Rewind time 10 years and live out my life in a way that does not turn into what it is now.
  • Just heal myself of all medical ailments today
  • Completely erase myself from having ever existed

Would depend on how I'm feeling at the moment... Lol.

Well, as a guy my 1st choice is power over women, of course.  I remember a joke about a guy who gets a wish from a genie & he says "I want you to build a bridge from here to Hawaii then get down on your hands & knees & use your nose to push a peanut from here to Hawaii & back"  Naturally, the genie is upset & begs for an easier task.  Finally the guy says "Oh all right, just explain to me how women think"  The genie looks at him for a moment then says "So, are 2 lanes wide enough for this bridge or does it have to be 4?"

I've had jobs cleaning convenience store parking lots so 2nd choice is being able to point at a piece of litter & have it fly up the ass of the jerk that threw it there rather than travel an extra 10-20 feet & put it in the trash can I had to empty.  If it would burst into flames as it traveled, I'd be tempted to make this 1st choice.

I would create the first robot capable of having peoples' mind uploaded into it. I would patent the design and distribute the plan for free to anyone who wanted to implement the technology. Just to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to live forever, not just the rich and the elite, and that lawyering wont come around and screw everything up.

I'd also like the ability to shape shift, just for fun!

Even if you could do anything I think curing all diseases, eradicating poverty, etc, would still be insanely difficult.

If I could do anything I'd want to be able to be the first human on an alien planet with life.

Alright, well I'll get things started here. If I could do anything I would probably eradicate disease across the entire universe forever.

Some diseases are needed my friend. What would earn pharmacists if there is no disease;) About cancer i totally agree with you but some of diseases necessary for balance of the nature :)

I would invent a time machine.

That being done, I would use said machine to change history - most notably, by going back and saving musicians, comedians and actors from making the mistakes they did which ended in their deaths.

Rock 'N' Roll Heaven, baby.

It's funny, for a few years now, the question "What would you do if you could do anything?" has been going through my head---it's like the arc words of a TV show or something.

Usually I answer with something within the laws of physics, but still ambitious, like making a killer app for smartphones or something (I have an idea for a card game that could have people laughing out loud).

Once in a while, though, it's something more near-sighted, like "get over this stupid sinus infection".
