Discord's role in Equestria Girls

Since he hasn't made an appearance though I'm sure he will eventually, what sort of role would you guys think he'd play? I imagine some sort of evil street magician with a crazy getup. Or maybe (so it could fit more with their theme) A man of power trying to take over the school and become new principle or try to get rid of the school. Meh....these aren't strong ideas, but what are yours?

I believe there is only ONE Discord. Currently he is in the dimension that contains Equestria and Ponies. If he should so choose to, he can just open said dimension and do what ever sort of chaos he wishes. We may see it, or we may not.

That's a very interesting question! There are many issues I can bring out, but firstly:

 

- How does he look like? Sure he's a hybrid of few different animals in Equestrian world - but will he look like a human? We know Crankey (that donkey) is a teacher in human side, looked alright. Diamond dogs, well, they are humans but no offence, rather ugly humans.

I HAVE NO IDEA.

 

- What's his occupation? Lord of the chaos will turn into a troublemaker in human world? If he's in CHS, I'll say a teacher, but not the most serious one. Other selections might include magician, caretaker or a zookeeper (well, chaos).

 

- In what way could he create chaos? Magic? I don't think everybody, except the mane-6, obtain magic of any sort. If he is equivalent to the rest, it would be hard for him to do whatever he wants. He might have magic because it's a show that sometimes makes no sense, then Discord can still be Discord.

He is probably an actual Chaos Spirit in the Human world as well and is probably hidden or imprisoned. Characters like Discord, Chrysalis, etc... are probably going to be kept as mythical entities rather than reduced to de-powered human counterparts, though they may take Human forms in these roles. It's probably we will see at least one such entity in Legend of Everfree.

 

I reject the idea that Discord is THE Chaos Spirit, A Chaos Spirit perhaps, but not THE Chaos Spirit. Discord being the literal manifestation of Chaos implies a severe imbalance in the cosmos as any magic user can simply turn him to stone or possibly even destroy them, and that such an entity wastes time on pettiness like pranks and ruling a small kingdom in some pony world.

 

I prefer Marvel Comic's depiction of embodiments of abstract concepts, which are known as "Cosmic Asbtracts", for example, the embodiment of Chaos is Lord Chaos, they are not actively malevolent or seek to torment people, but they acknowledge they are part of a great cosmic balance and that Chaos is an important aspect of the universe, along with it's opposite - Order(represented by Master Order) and the two entities work together to keep a balance of Order and Chaos in the universe.

Since we're going into "how I'd do it if I was a writer" territory, here's my idea from another thread.

 

 

 

I have a very particular idea for how Discord could be handled, though this is more of a "if I was a writer for an Equestria Girls series..." kind of thing. Basically I'd have Discord as the eccentric owner and curator of a museum, he is an actual Chaos Spirit in Human disguise and protects a magical hallow which the museum was constructed on. He occasionally causes mischief and/or gives advice to the main cast in the form of cryptic riddles and problems they must solve in order to get his help, or if they need to use the hallow he protects. I opted for this way of using him to keep him in an almost antagonistic state rather than a "rehabilitated villain" form like in FiM, this way we get Discord causing mischief without him being entirely at odds with the protagonists.

It's already been proven that Discord can open doors to different dimensions.  He lives in the Plane of Chaos in fact and nearly tossed Treehugger into some weird sock puppet realm.  So I'd say it's reasonable to say that he might pop up on the other side of Twilight's mirror without actually passing through it.  What sorts of mischief Discord will cause in the human world is anyone's guess.

 

As for a human world version of Discord, I think he would make an awesome replacement for Principal Cinch over at CPA.  I picture him as a laid-back old man who just lets Dean Cadance run things while he goofs off and has fun with the students.  If Discord's antics can't help those Crystal Preppys lighten up, nothing can.

I read a Friendship Games fanfic where Shining Armor and Cadance quit after the events of the games, and Discord was mentioned to be the custodian, and the only one in the school who can take a bucking joke.

Anyways, unless he didn't change form I don't think they would add him. Maybe the Mane 6 have to stop him from destroying said dimension?

It would be repetitive to have to defeat discord again, he's already been defeated twice. If he were in eqg, I think he would somehow aid the human 7 in accomplishing another goal
