The Banner...

I know the banners aren't up for to long but you should keep in mind that part of the brony community also dosen't celebrate christmas. I know the banner will be changed sooner or later so it dosen't bother me. but it may bother other ponies. So with all respects I am suggesting to have just a winter banner not one that is religion.

But its alright leave it up.... so what. It wont kill me if you leave it up. This is just feedback

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

This current banner isn't necessarily declaring a merry Christmas to everyone.

It's just showing off the donation program's name, which is 'Making Christmas Merrier'

Hello @Neon Bubblez,

Like @Venomous pointed out, this isn't necessarily saying Merry Christmas, but is actually promoting Making Christmas Merrier, an annual event in which users of MLPForums donate to BC's Childrens Hospital. Making Christmas Merrier goes for a whole month starting from mid-November to around about Christmas so people have enough time to donate to the cause and reach certain donation milestones.

I hope this clears things a little. Lemme know if you have any other questions regarding Making Christmas Merrier you're unsure of.

After I posted this topic, I looked around on the forums and found out about the Childrens Hospital thing. I think that it is good that mlpforums is doing this and I think the should continue helping the little ones. I'm sorry for my confusion.

Continue making this winter merrier for the sick children.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

I would like to add that even if the banner specifically said "Merry Christmas", we should still have kept it. The majority of people on this website do celebrate Christmas and I'm sure that the few who don't wouldn't mind it. The intention with the banner is not to discriminate anyone. There will always be this one person who gets offended by something but you can't cancel everything just to make every single person happy, it's not not going to work and it would be, in my opinion, silly to not use a christmas banner at christmas just because there is some guy who has bad christmas memories or whatever.

Just a quick opinion.

My household has two Christians and two Wiccans. We all celebrate Christmas. Christmas has evolved into three distinct holidays. Religious (celebrating the birth of Christ), Secular (Celebrating the pageantry, food, music, imagery, etc of the holiday), and Commercial (non religious do hit the seasonal sales).

Christmas has morphed into a more inclusive holiday over the generations allowing parts of it to be celebrated by all without them feeling like they have to be a member of a specific religious belief.

Because of that, the banner is undeniably inclusive. If you don't celebrate the holiday, that is perfectly fine. I don't celebrate Canada Day but I enjoyed the banner. ;)

I am Wiccan myself and the rest of my family is Christian. I personally love Christmas and would celebrate it regardless if my own religion wasn't involved in some way. However everyone is different and I do understand where you are coming from Neon Bubblez in a way.

I understand your opinion on Christmas being part of a Religion but not all the time because now its known as a Holiday for everyone.
