movies/tv Should I watch the Avengers?

Long story short, I've fallen in love with Iron Man and Thor. Watched Iron Man 2 days ago, both sequels yesterday and Thor today. I regret watching the third Iron Man before The Avengers, but it's fine. Anyway, I came here to ask if I really need to watch The Incredible Hulk and Captain America before The Avengers.

 

First off, I'm starting school tomorrow, so I probably won't be able to watch The Avengers for a while unless I do today.

Second, I don't care for neither the Hulk or Captain America. While I can say I'd give Captain America a try later on, I never cared for Hulk. Just a guy who goes mad and green. Most of this is due to the 2003 movie (that surprisingly I watched) and I disliked it.

 

I've read that watching Captain America would be good before watching The Avengers, but is it necessary? I just really want to watch The Avengers so bad!

You don't really need to watch The Incredible Hulk. But I would recommend that you watch Captain America The First Avenger seeing as how a plot device in that film is integral to the plot of The Avengers. But if you don't watch Captain America I feel like you could still enjoy The Avengers you would just be a little confused as to character motivations.

Good news is they did eventually make a good Hulk movie. Even better news is that its with the Avengers movie which you should see soon. :grin2:  I would recommend catching Captain America first if you can and definitely catch CA: The Winter Soldier later as its a great film as well and a great followup to the Avengers movie.

 

Skip the Hulk solo films.... :=:

Definitely worth watching. They're all good movies and there's really no reason not to watch them. All the movies are working to tie in together in some way or another anyway, so you'd be missing out on the lore by skipping any.

I think that they've done a brilliant job with this series of movies. None of them are particularly excellent, but they are all great fun to be had if you have the time.

 

Like people already said, you don't really need to watch those movies to enjoy The Avengers, but you should if you have the time because they are good movies and are fun to watch.

Incredible Hulk is unnecessary; I didn't really like it and it doesn't tell you anything about the Hulk that you don't know or can inference. Captain America I'd watch, because if you watch the first Captain America before Winter Soldier, some parts of W.S. will be a lot better. You'll also get introduced to a few central characters in W.S. that you'll like a lot more because you got attached.

 

Basically what everyone else said; Hulk's unnecessary, but you should watch Captain America.

Incredible Hulk is actually a pretty fun watch imo, even if it's not the best

Captain America is great though, do not miss it.

Then you can watch Avengers.

Never watched Incredible Hulk due to being worn out of bad Marvel movies. I've even skipped all phase 1 movies util Avengers, which there's when I've watched most of the previous movies. It's not pretty necessary to watch Cap America for the Avengers, you won't miss THAT much to understand those movies, but I still suggest doing so for Winter Soldier, that movie WAS THE SHIT AND YOU SHOULDN'T MISS IT 

 

EDIT: I suggest you to watch one or two Cinematic Universe series, as I personally think most of their villains are better than the movie ones, even the so acclaimed Loki. But do it AFTER Avengers, as they contain spoilers. Agents of SHIELD starts quite underwhelming first half of season 1, but it gets much better, oh, and Daredevil. Forget EVERYTHING about the film last decade, that series RULES
