Do you dream of something all over and over every night?

I don't know why this happens. Is it a message? Is it a sign of something such as destiny? It is starting to confuse me. I dream of my job EVERY single night, not the same actions of what I do in the dream, but the job itself. For example let's say that I am a janitor (no I am not). One night I will dream of mopping the school floor. Second night I will dream that my mop turned into a living wooden stick that is trying to talk to me. Third night I will dream that I am out drinking with my friends and someone approaches me and yells at me to mop the floor in the bar. This has been going on since the first week I started my job, which was a year ago.

What about you? I heard that is normal to occur in somebody, but I see my case a bit extreme, every single night for a year now..... Share your theory if you want to, this sounds silly anyways...

My deams are usually quite random and don't follow any sort of pattern.

Although, I do sometimes have recurring dreams as well.

Regarding your dreams...

I'd do some research on the internet.

There are many websites that are dedicated to explaining certain and specific dreams. You'd be surprised what you may find.

I sometimes have a certain type of dream that I have over and over and over again. Lately I've often had nightmares about hording small pets like bunnies and guineapigs and whatnot, but I 'forgot' about them and when I get home I see they all passed away (which will usually end up with me crying and hating myself even if I know it was just a dream :() . I have absolutely no idea why I have this dream lately, maybe it is because everytime I hear a story about people who actually hord animals and neglect them it absolutely hits my heart? But I mean, I'm not the only one that would react like that. I also sometimes have dreams that will continue, ie one night I dream that I go to a park, the next night I dream I am in the park etc. (This is just an example, it's not that simple xD)

Regarding wether or not this is normal.... I am absolutely no expert or even near an expert, but as far as I know it is absolutely normal to have recurring dreams and I've heard many people tell me about theirs (teeth/hair falling out, etc). And dreaming about your work is normal as well, because we process what happens during the day time when we dream.

That being said, I never heard about having such a similar dream every night, though I'm sure you're not alone with this.

You're dreaming about working? You should get paid for that. XD

If I work a job for a while and it gets stressful, I'll start dreaming about work. But that may not be your reason. ^_^

I myself have dreamed about Disney World ever since I can remember. I'm either going to the place, or I'm already there.

I worked at Disney World on a few internships, but I had to go home afterwards. I swear I'm meant to go back and do something Disney related. Which sounds really dorky, but whatever. XP

I very often dream of myself being back in school. Whether I'm being bullied or just genuinely want to go back and do better. It's been like this since 2016, when I graduated from Military Adult ED.

Lately, I keep dreaming that I go out to some busy, crowded place, and I completely forget about the pandemic.  Once I'm there, I start panicking and I'm in utter disbelief that I could have forgotten about covid.  Then I try to run away, but everyone closes in around me and starts coughing and sneezing on me.  I've been having that dream in one form or another about twice a week for the last five weeks or so.

I just don't understand why negativity has to dominate dreams.  Is it like that for most people, or just me?  Maybe it's unique to pessimistic people.  Idk.  It just really pisses me off.  Life sucks, but my dreams present an opportunity for a delightful escape into a better place.  I mean, f*ck, dude, I could dream about flying through the clouds with Rainbow Dash, or having superpowers, or I could dream about having way-out 'n' wild sex with the most beautiful women in the world, but NOOOOO!  I have to dream about whatever the worst case scenario is, whatever is stressing me out, whatever horrible bullsh*t is going on.  That's what I dream about.  I KNOW COVID EXISTS, GOD DAMMIT.  You don't have to remind me, f*ckin' subconscious.    Why do I have to dream about being mobbed by the infected?!  How does that help me?  WHY CAN'T I DREAM ABOUT PLEASANT THINGS!!??  :Cozy:

It's probably because you're afraid to get it. If you think about it a lot or if you're scared but push it down, it's possible for it to get into your dreams. But I don't know, dreams are weird and often aren't what we want them to be.

I'm a really pessimistic person in real life, but I feel like my dreams are the only place where I can afford to be positive, purely because they aren;t real. I do sometimes get nightmares, but these days those are rare, and I usually realise that I'm in a Nightmare and I try to wake myself up.

I have recurring dreams about a town in what looks like eastern Europe. The town is very detailed and it remains the same in every dream. I've been in dozens of buildings and exterior locations and have been 'visiting' this place since I was 10 years old. I've never been to this place in real life and never traveled to eastern Europe. It's strangely vivid every time I dream about it and it's comforting to go back to it when I sleep. I dream about this place 1-4 times a week and have since it all began, with occasional times when I won't dream about it for a week or even a month, then it all comes back every night for a long time. It runs in strange patterns. I don't know if this is a real place or completely imagined, but it is interesting to think about.

Yeah I’ve dreamt about the same thing multiple times. Sometimes it’s really soft stuff that always leaves me in a good mood for a while after waking up. Other times it’s well uh

I have several recurring dreams that I could write a wall of text on.

One of them I have is that I'm about to get married. I'm always giddy, nervous and excited and really fussing over everything. Especially how I look to the point of feeling really self-concious. The thing is though, the dream never progresses past that point. So I never get to see who it is that I'm marrying or experience any of the ceremony. It's always the last minute preparations before the ceremony that I dream of. It's one of those dreams that always leaves me with an emotional impact every time I wake up.

I would love to actually get married someday.

I don't particularly dream of the same thing EVERY night but very often if I do dream, the locations often repeat! And those locations are either the ones I remember from my childhood or warped version of them. And they're very often always rather ominous and dark but not quite threatening!

Never had a dream twice even if I wanted to. I clearly remember my favorite dream I had, which has been so many years ago, and so many time I have wanted it to repeat, but never happened!

Other than that, I’ve had repeating themes in dreams but the actual dreams themselves weren’t similar.

That's a very good way to phrase it. :) I only had the same dream once (as far as I remember), with a different outcome. But have the same themes often, the same patterns.

Like, I'm in a bus and the bus driver starts to drive like crazy and crashes into a lot of cars etc. :sealed:

Of course, I have different dreams most of the time but I do feel some of my dreams are connected to one and other; they're just on different time and setting.  Most of the common ones I have is me being a soldier or a law enforcer from different time and places. Mostly ones in the older wars. These are vivid dreams as well too-so I could tell a person about it in great details.  Most of them aren't good dream either. Every time I dreamt about being a soldier, it always ended with me being killed by an explosion, feeling my legs was the first to go before I die.  Or failed to do what's right. I have dreams  of children being taken away or some man getting tortured. And I was just a bystander following orders. But in my head I felt it was wrong and asked myself "why"? In almost all of these dream of me being a soldier, that one scream always there, same pitch and sound.  And when I wake up to these dreams, it felt like it was real and  the feeling of being traumatized that I felt in my dreams reminds. I only get these kind of dream when I either super stress, tried, or depressed.

Rather than having recurring dreams I have plenty of dreams that take place in recurring locations. Among them are fictionalized versions of a 1960s Las Vegas (completely different than the real one), a totally different Disneyland (in exquisite detail) and a department store from where I used to live on Oregon, which is the same as the real deal in name only. The storylines in these dreams are different every time and even the details of the locations change a bit. But they do show up with some frequency. The only recurring dreams I had were childhood nightmares (weird kid stuff) and some traumatic nightmares after I almost drowned when I was a teenager. I don’t have those dreams anymore though, thank goodness.
