Hot sauce on cupcakes?

I gotta wonder...

 

Has anyone tried this? I kind of want to try it, but my first reaction is "gross!" Just wondered if anyone else was brave enough to try it, and if so... how was it?

I actually have. It was not pleasant. At first, it tasted like any regular old hot sauce-tainted cupcake. But after a few seconds it just tasted like hot sauce with a bunch of mushy stuff.

Out of curiosity, I once had hot sauce on cake, which can't be that much different than hot sauce on a cupcake. It was terrible. Definitely not as good as frosting on pizza. (Yes, I've tried that too.)

Well I tried mint ice cream on peperoni pizza, and it tasted like you'd expect, ok but never again... so why the hell not?

That's a really drastic flavor contrast. I imagine most people wouldn't like the extremes of sweet and hot put together. Some might though.

 

I've never tried it myself, though I've had things just as unusual.

While we are on the topic of strange food combinations, I once did put some ice-cream on a McDonald's cheeseburger.

 

Yesterday I mixed, chocolate milkshake, strawberry milkshake and mango juice together. (Was participating in GGJ 16, so we had some funny things go on), it was surprising really nice.
