Locking Topics

Recommended Posts

I recently made a topic that was in the wrong section. It got locked and nobody could post.  :diamondtiara:  I feel as if this is a bit harsh, and the moderators should move topics to the right section if they're in the wrong section. It would be a bit upsetting to have a topic of substance only to have it locked so you'd have to re-post in a new section. Sometimes, people might think the section is fitting for what they said.

I don't personally want any of my topics unlocked that were already locked, but I'm saying that if somebody did post something and find out it was in the wrong section, they'd probably wish it weren't locked.

Mods do move topics into their correct sections when they're posted in the wrong one.

Your topic was locked by Code, he said:

"@Bravo Satisfries. Hey there. Sorry to say but the subject of your topic isn't suitable for a topic and would be a lot more suitable as a blog.

Remember that when creating topics, you are wanting to try and start a discussion about a certain subject between members.

Locking."

It wasn't locked for being in the wrong section. It was locked for not being great for discussion between members. You should move it to a blog.

And if you're wondering why the mod didn't move your thread to a blog, they can't. You have to do it yourself.

Moderators do indeed do this.

As for your case, specifically, however, the moderator who locked your thread did not lock it because it was posted in the wrong section.

They locked it because it lacked potential to spark discussion.

Moderators DO what you have listed... That's fine, atleast you know now.

Typically if a topic is in the wrong section we simply move it to the correct section to help organization. They are not locked unless the conversation involved gets out of hand or the original post is not substantive enough to be a springboard for prolonged or sustained conversation (hence why we direct people to use the blog and status system). Other times the topic is just not appropriate for the general audience.

We have always had a high standard for topics here, but we have lightened up a bit in the last six months so we are a little more forgiving if you post a topic that has been discussed many times before.

moving a topic from the wrong topic to the right one is a good idea and the mods should do this.
