movies/tv Starlight Glimmer Vs Peridot, who had the better redemption?

At the end of Season 5 of MLP, Twilight decided to take Starlight Glimmer in as her apprentice in Friendship after causing a war between Equestria and King Sombra. Meanwhile on Steven Universe, Peridot rebelled against Yellow Diamond and ended up joining the Crystal Gems after realizing how precious life on earth is. With that said, which character do you prefer and which do you think had the better redemption

I prefer Peridot's redemption. Peridot has always cared about what would happen to Earth considering that the Cluster has potential to destroy it, but because of her time being stranded on Earth, it has given her enough time to think and learn about how things work from there, which makes her redemption more natural and satisfying.

Not just that, but despite being a Crystal Gem now, Peridot isn't quite happy with the idea of being one initially. She is still the grumpy dork we've all known for a long time, so it'll take a few more episodes for her to be accustomed with the idea of being a Crystal Gem. Peridot has also shown to be really hesitant of the idea of fusing with another Gem within the most recent episode of the series, which tells us that she still has a long way to go. All of this stuff makes Peridot's redemption more realistic, since not a lot of people change so quickly for the better.

Peridot, hands down.

Her character arch felt much more fresh, original, unique and organic that Starlight's.

In MLP FIM, there has already been Luna/Nightmare Moon, Discord, and Sunset Shimmer who have gone through the whole main villain reformation arch before her.  So Starlight's redemption isn't really that special or unique any more.  Especially considering how really really similar it is to Sunset Shimmer's redemption to the point of being a rip off.  Why would I wantt to see the same exact character arch happen again?  Also seeing as Starlight Glimmer is a synonym for Twilight Sparkle which makes her yet another foil for the main character.  There's already been Trixie, Sunset Shimmer, Moon Dancer (who also has an emotional backstory about a friend leaving her) and Human Twilight.  Being the 5th Twilight foil is also another thing that is unoriginal.

With Peridot not only is her character actually original in the show she takes place in, she wasn't immediately forgiven by the main cast and made instant best friends with them in the span of like 3- 5 minutes.  There were a series of multiple episodes dedicated to giving her focus and development as she got closer to the Crystal Gems and gradually learn to appreciate the earth to the point where we were allowed to get much more attached to her and learn more about how she thinks and what homeworld is like.  Even by the point in which she turned on Yellow Diamond and became a member of the team, she still has a lot to learn and isn't fully on board on being a Crystal Gem yet.

As has been mentioned, Peridot's 'redemption' has flowed much smoother. FiM's redemptions nowadays just don't flow. I want to say it's because they're done in such short time, but I don't really think that's all there is to it.
