Well, I do a lot of drawings from time to time - most of them personal ones that are never seen on the site - so I figured that I would create a little place to just put some of my art down. You know, that way the lot of you could see it.

Pleasant surprise to see more traditional art. Lovely work! By the way, do you end up having to buy a lot of new markers or pens after they run out? Cause I've always thought that was a con of traditional media.

First of all, thank you. Secondly, I actually don't have to frequent art stores very often. I usually purchase Prismacolor pencils in their largest set: 120. I never actually buy markers except to outline everything I do, and even then, I use one black marker every five months or so.

 

My current set of Prismacolor pencils has lasted me about...three years now? I have yet to use an entire pencil out of it; in fact, more than half of the pencils haven't been used.

 

So no, I usually don't have to go and buy a lot of materials, but that's just me. Depending on the person and how much work they put into a drawing (ie coloring, backgrounds, shading, etc), their use of art supplies will vary. For me, I use each supply efficiently, but not to the point to where I run out quickly.

These are really good. I need to find a color marker set. They seem to be better then color pencils.

Oh, I use colored pencils. I can't seem to get into using markers. It's just all too new I guess.

Then maybe I just need to find some better colored pencils cause I have hard time getting the color to turn out that good.

I recommend Prismacolor. Pretty darn good, easy to blend colors, and durable. As long as you apply some pressure to the colored pencils, the image should turn out almost as well as the ones I currently do.

I really love a few of these. I like how the style varies depending on the pony being drawn at times.
