ManaMinori 4,145 February 22, 2016 Share February 22, 2016 (edited) Right now, the My little pony franchise is 34 years old, so the 50th is quite a ways off. But let's talk about the possibilities anyway. Judging by the insane success of Friendship is Magic, MLP's franchise is going to stay around long, long after FiM dies off, and Hasbro bank on the past generations success for the future made generations. My little pony ain't going nowhere, that's for sure. Pokemon's franchise has ben going all out with all these games, generation callbacks, marketing, etc. For just their 20th anniversary. What do you think Hasbro will do for their My Little Pony franchise's 50th birthday? I have hope that Hasbro is sensible enough to go big or go home, tke a page from Pkemon/Yugioh, make both an "My little pny origins" series or movie that mixes ponies from every generation, for fans of every generation. An "originals" toyline that allows us to have first gen ponies in molded plastic, high quality. Hopefully by the time mlp turns 50, Hasbro will have bought the rights to "Them's fighting herds", and give all mlp fans a game with a few of every pony from past generations in a fighting multiplayer game. Blindbags of each generation, Funko's, etc. Edited February 22, 2016 by Nightmare Muffin Under the Jellicle Moon- a site with cuteness, cat boys, and comic strips / Star Dreams Fanclub

ManaMinori 4,145 February 22, 2016 Author Share February 22, 2016 Well, it's not as popular with the kids anymore if I remember correctly.I'm sorry, but are you blind? We're in a pony generation that has blown up its predecessors in terms of popularity, is STILL getting 3 variants of comic covers a month, long past the comic's double digits, which NO OTHER comic in history has done, has multiple toy lines, a card game, an ongoing spinoff and IT'S OWN toyline, a slew of other related merchandise and focus in other areas. Multiple references in other forms of pop culture and media...How in Tartarus is my little pony, in this day and age not popular? How is Hasbro not going to capitalize on the success of this generation, and ensure my little pony's franchise last until it's 50th birthday? Wingnut 6,999 February 22, 2016 Share February 22, 2016 Off the top of my head, I can think of another animated franchise that celebrated it's 50th in a big way. Alvin and the Chipmunks! The first live action movie with CGI chipmunks from Christmas 2007 was done to mark the occasion. As far as MLP goes, it's one of Hasbro's long-enduring, successful product lines. The same can be said of GI Joe (the Hasbro version) and Transformers. I'm sure they will all get the recognition they deserve.

ponylaces 1,870 February 22, 2016 Share February 22, 2016 (edited) I don't know, I mean, that's in a VERY long time. But I could see it happening during G5 (if there is going to be one at some point) and maybe there will be a movie or something. Shanks 10,816 February 22, 2016 Share February 22, 2016 That is a long way off and it is possible that MLP's popularity could wane by then but it is also possible that it may wane and then regain its popularity which has been happening alot lately with all the reboots that are going on. I don't know, assuming it is still popular enough I could see them doing something big. Off the top of my head, I can think of another animated franchise that celebrated it's 50th in a big way. Alvin and the Chipmunks! Alvin and the Chipmunks has been around for 50 years? I guess that is another thing I can add to the list of things that have been around way way way longer than I thought. I remember Alvin and the Chipmunks for its 80's cartoon actually, and I liking the new series as well actually. 2 Rarity Get's Cockroaches

Mesme Rize 15,683 February 22, 2016 Share February 22, 2016 Maybe, if the popularity of the franchise hasn't wined down by then, which it probably will. Our fandom has it's big boom between 2011 and 2013. Since then, the hype has wined down a bit and i think it wine down once FiM is gone. Also, there is no guarantee that another Series will come. For all we know, we probably have to wait another 10 years or so. My OC Mesme Rize: >https://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/mesme-rize-r8777 Thank you Randimaxis for this Wonderful Avatar. PiratePony 8,475 February 22, 2016 Share February 22, 2016 Nothing much, it isn't that popular after all. It grossed over a billion dollars last year alone. A billion in 2014. In fact, it's increased sales every year since FIM started...so I would say it's quite popular. I might even buy Hasbro based on ponehs alone. We talk about Star Wars, Doctor Who or Lord of the Rings type of popular. It's kinda unrealistic to look 16 years into the future and think that it will probably go on to be so popular. I don't think it's fair to limit something as popular to those astronomical levels of popularities. I think MLP brand (a billion dollar a year brand) is considered popular enough to last 16 years to the point of having some sort of acknowledgment by Hasbro, even if it's on a down cycle between now and then. 16 years is not a lot of time after all. As a normal human being, a billion seems like a large number. But do you know how much it costs to make these toys, ship these toys all over the world, produce their own TV Shows and what not? As a business, a billion is okay. Once Friendship is Magic is over, the income will never be the same again. Also, a german, i see alot more Filly toys being then MLP toys, because nobody cares about MLP here. Steve Piranha 29,428 February 23, 2016 Share February 23, 2016 Also, a german, i see alot more Filly toys being then MLP toys, because nobody cares about MLP here. well, that makes sense, Filly Funtasia is German, it's obvious it would be sold far more ther than MLP. Being made there means it's far cheaper I don't think FIM would be a sole focus in MLP's half century anniversary. First, it's the franchise's anniversary after all, not just FIM's. I do expect some history, reseling all generations toys, make new ones for each generation, etc. I don't think G4 would be around by then, it's a long strech from now Sig by Discords
cider float 2,538 February 23, 2016 Share February 23, 2016 In about 16 years unless there's a G5 that can uphold some degree of success close to G4 any planned anniversary would be a bit meh but I suppose it could still bring some G4 sleeping fans back in for a peak. But a series? No probably just a movie or something.
EverEverOn 346 February 23, 2016 Share February 23, 2016 It all depends on how popular the franchise is. There'll be a whole new generation of kids at that point, and if they aren't interested in these cartoon horses, then Hasbro probably won't celebrate. Now, there is a possibility they'll celebrate in a sort of nostalgic way for adults who remember the franchise from when they were little. Maybe release deluxe versions of ponies from all generations as collectibles?
