general Do you think women should shave?

You're here! Seems like my title caught your attention. Now...

I've thought about this for a long time now and finally I have to ask you, out of pure curiousity: What do you guys think when a woman has hairy legs/armpits? Also, what do you think when a man has hairy legs/armpits?

If you have time, please answer both questions. More interesting that way. A motivation to why you think what you think would be even more appreciated!

Let's drop this bomb, BOOM!

To be honest I dont shave my armpits because I am lazy and I dont really care about it. For others I would say the same  if you want to shave it go away but if you don't then I wont go like hell you must because (insert arbertrary reason here). DO what makes you feel good and don't let anyone else say what you must or musn't do especially those bloody advertisements.

I personally think a lot of hair on a male is masculine AF. The whole beard trend going on is awesome to me. Looks like the dude is ready to wrestle a bear and then make love to a tree...Then cut down the tree in the morning! Mannly~

And I'd honestly don't mind body hair on a women. She has the option to do shave or not; Not to fall victim of the social stigmatism.

TBH, when I see a woman with visible body hair in public she gets mad respect from me. So good for her.

I think we should be able to do whatever we want! If it grows, than it is natural and society can get over it if we don't want to shave! You know, for a culture supposedly so obsessed with what is natural or not in regards to homosexuality (hint: It is), funny how they are no longer concerned with what is natural or not in other issues. (Not surprising, though.)

With that being said, I do, personally, prefer having my legs shaved. But I'm not going to judge other women if they don't.

As a girl, I do shave but not very often (especially not in winter since I always wear long pants). I don't mind if others shave or not. I really don't pay much attention to what someone's legs/armpits are like :P

As for guys having lots of hair, again I don't really have a preference.

I'm a guy so as long as I can have my beard, woman can do whatever they please.

I'll trim my own armpits if they get a little too long though.

It looks better if armpits and legs are not hairy but then again it isn't a big issue if they don't. Just don't be as hairy as I am if you're a woman because then it is weird to me although I may never say it out loud.

What will truly matter to me is the person they are on the inside though.

I'm a woman and I shave every-time I have a bath/shower, so that's every-day or every other day. I don't really think of it of a chore, it's just something I do. The hair under my armpits grows ridiculously quick so I have to do it quite often. I also shave my arms once a week or so as I have relatively hairy arms for a woman.

I just feel gross with body hair. I know it's natural and I shouldn't have to have the need to shave but I just do.

I'm slightly germophobic and body hair just makes me feel dirty.

Do what the hell you want though, shave if you want to and don't if you don't want to.

LOL this thread reminded me of that episode of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia where Frank shaves himself completely and rubs himself with hand sanitizer.

I don't shave my legs, but I'm a guy so that's nothing weird.

My sister doesn't shave. She hates the very idea. As a result, she's as hairy as I am, which is pretty weird.

What makes it weirder is that my dad does shave. He's a cyclist, so he likes those silky smooth legs.

I prefer guys to be less hairy, but if I was dating someone that was hairy I wouldn't be like "you must shave!".  So I would expect the same courtesy.

I only shave my armpits because I think it helps keep the stink down. My legs have gone unshaven for years, but you can barely notice it because I'm blonde so it is really light colored.  That and I wear pants.

It does bother me when people expect women to shave but let men get a free pass to be hairy.  Double standard much?

don't really have much of an opinion on male hair, I think women look better without it but that's probably just the American media brainwashing LOL

very interesting choice of avatar to "milky" LOL

I'm dying. I need that new season on Netflix already.

But yeah, everyone do whatever. I'm in no position to judge with my hairy hobbit feet. My toes are like shrubs.

I have hairy legs 'cause shaving them is far from important to me, but I do shave my armpits because it's weird to be the girl with hairy armpits. Boys, I feel, should do the same, but to each their own. So long as you don't stink, I don't care.

If you're wanna know my opinion. I always thought that shortly cut is better then shaved just because it doesn't become scratchy next day.

Yeah, I'm guy but I cut armpits hair (and some other places) from time to time to make hygiene easier.

And I love to smell good.

to be honest i don't mind if other people shave or not , i do simply because its what makes me feel comfortable i don't do it for anyone else or for people to have a better impression of me i do it for me

i don't agree to people doing it due to social pressures or stigmatizms just be yourself you'll get respect from me no matter what you do as long as you do it to make yourself happy and not because some opinionated people say you should and this carries for both men and women.

* i prefer women to shave. i hate shaving personally, but i do it not only because i feel gross if i don't, but because of the whole social stigma that comes with it. if i could afford laser treatment for my body hair, i'd go for it in a heartbeat.

* i've never really experienced hairless men and i do like men with hair, obviously, but there are limits. i find it gross is a guy is too hairy.

I'm not really attracted to girls that don't shave, so that's that. But that's their business and if they don't want to, then more power to them.

I don't think women 'need' to shave, but if they do, they should do it because they want to and not because anyone else thinks they should. Society tells all women that they have to have smooth legs and not a hair anywhere else but the top of their head despite if they want to or not. I personally like having shaved legs because I like the smooth feeling, but that's because I like it myself, not because anyone else likes it.

The same goes for more masculine type of people. I think if they really want to, they should be able to.

Do what you want. Whatever suits you. If you work somewhere that makes arm/leg/body hair inconvenient, you should probably shave. If you're a professional athlete and you think it helps, sure. If you're just a normal person working at an insurance office or something similarly boring, then it really doesn't matter. I don't think a town would run away screaming if a woman went outside with hair on her legs.

And as for men, I think wikipedia has some good insight on why hair is appealing:

"Lumbersexual is a portmanteau, derived from lumberjack and metrosexual, coined in 2008 describing a physically fit man who has adopted style traits typical of a traditional lumberjack, namely a beard, plaid shirt, and scruffy hair, as supplement to his otherwise clean-cut and fashionable style choices. Denver Nicks described the trend as perhaps an attempt to 'reclaim masculinity'. The term "Urban lumberjack" is another term used to describe this same style."

Because it's classy or something. I honestly don't care. Excuse me while I go find a picture of the "Neutral people" from Futurama.

what an odd thread, oh well.

Female btw, been a little lax on the legs because it's winter, my boyfriend loves me and our bathroom does not make it easy to bend to reach places -_- so it's quite the chore for me these days. I have an electric razor too but its pretty shoddy.

I do my arms pretty much when ever im gonna go outside. I constantly wear tank tops and sleevless low tops, so armpits tend to be on show. This is the most important of the 3 areas (wont talk about the 3rd one), everyone can see it, general public think that its unattractive, if you sweat a lot, armpit hair really holds smell x.x it's not good. It's also the quickest and easiest shave to do. That's why i do it.

Once the summer starts and I get wearing shorts again, i'm gonna have to learn to get more flexible for the bathroom session x.x

on the topic of hairy guys. I like my guy to be hairier than me. I'm not a girl who likes hairless small guys. I like my men to be REAL manly.

It should definitely be the choice of whoever is the shavee in this regard. I personally never had any issues with girls or guys that don't shave their legs or whatever. Big bushy beards on guys aren't too attractive to me though, but a stylized beard or goatee can be friggin' hot. *ahem* I had a friend in high school who didn't shave her legs and it bother her at all, she didn't see it as worth it to do so and I think, yeah! Only do it if you feel like it is better for you, not because society says whatever.

Hell, I'm a guy. I'm not going to tell women what to do with their bodies; I leave decisions like that entirely up to them and am happy to do so.

If you asked me whether I'd still be attracted to a woman with body hair, I would have to say probably not. But that's another matter.

Eh, I mean do what you want. I'm a lady so I do, but it's not like a super duper priority unless i'm going on a date or something.
If I was to be like, going out with a girl, yeah i'd want her to shave. That's my preference though, nothing more.
I could care less if guys shave or not. (Except for chest hair. For some reason it just bothers me idk why.)
