One Boop Mare

"Is here good Dashie?" asked the jovial party pony as she hopped about in place. They were far from Ponyville -- standing several hundred feet away from each other in an expansive gorge. Cliffs towered high above them in the distance. The ground was relatively flat and brown with sun dried soil. It was the perfect spot for insanely quick movements without much getting in the way.

Rainbow's heart pounded as she got into position. Pinkie Pie was an earth pony, and yet she was faster and stronger than Dash could ever dream of being. She hated to admit it, but the Cyan mare had grown up with some fairly bigoted ideas of earth ponies being inferior to Pegasi and Unicorns. It was a stupid thing to think about other ponies. Just because Dash and other pegasi had wings didn't mean they were better than anyone else. It made her really happy she had moved to ponyville so she could learn to get out of that bad way of thinking.

Now she knew the truth...Earth ponies could destroy Pegasi easily. Especially the Pie Family.

At first Dash had just chalked it up to "Pinkie being Pinkie" with how she could keep up with Rainbow on hooves with as fast as she could go with wings.  She didn't think how strange it was that the Party pony could appear anywhere she wanted, how she could burrow into the ground faster than a diamond dog, how her sister could chuck Boulders so far they make shock waves...

That was another thing; No matter how strong Pinkie was, Dash had to remember that her sister Maud was that much stronger. It made her shudder at the thought.

Shudder in anticipation.

"There's good Pinkie!" Dash called out, standing in her designated spot.

"This is just a pretend fight right Dashie? Not fighting for real right?" Pinkie asked in a casual tone "I don't wanna hurt ya too bad"

Dash smiled through gritted teeth and nodded, "Yes Pinkie, but I want you to go all out. I don't want you to hold back anymore okay? We are going to go into this 120%"

'Okey doki loki," came Pinkie's reply, wearing a beaming smile so big it made her eyes close in a happy expression.

Dash Geared up and flared her wings causing clouds of dust to billow out behind her.

"Alright PINKS LETS DO THIS!" With that her wings gave a powerful flap, causing a shock wave of rainbow color on the spot and sending her flying towards the pink Mare. It seemed to happen in slow motion. Dash watched Pinkie effortlessly bend backwards in a seemingly impossible position for a pony and watched her rainbow maned friend sail over her head at a comparative snails pace. Dash growled -- Flaring her wings up to make another rainboom, stopping her in her tracks mid air before swiftly changing her trajectory. The second  wave of color wasn't even touching the ground before dash started spiraling to land a solid kick with her back hoof.

At least that was her plan. Pinkie calmly ducked out of the way of her hind leg with that same happy grin she always had, giving out and appreciative noise of approval at Dash's fancy mid air acrobatics.  Up to this point Pinkie hadn't even moved from her initial starting position. it was frustrating as Tartarus for the Cyan mare. With a determined growl she circled back around and catapulted her self into the air before letting off her third Rainboom straight towards the ground where Pinkie stood -- aiming her hind hooves for one hell a Stomp.

A fraction of a second before she made contact Pinkie had blurred away from where she stood, letting that powerful blow buckle the ground and kick up a cloud of smoke instead of connecting with her body. If it weren't for Dash's well trained eyes she wouldn't even of known which direction Pinkie had gone, but thanks to it she knew Pinkie had leaped into the sky away from the attack and had a general idea where she would be at that instant.

Her wings flexed and she concentrated her pegasi magic into them, giving out a battle cry as she directed all the power of a rainboom forward into a projectile attack. It was her own Rainbow Beam, not nearly as potent as what the elements could do, but enough for one mare. The Vibrant colors shot forward and blew away the smoke from the crater. Pinkie gave a whoop of excitement and twirled out of the way, letting that beam of energy rip into the cliff behind her and scorch out a hole near the top.

"Wow Dashie, that was super Neato!" Pinkie said, calm as ever as she landed lightly onto the ground. She didn't even look winded while Dash wash already panting from so many successive blasts of magic and exertion in such a short amount of time.

"Oh come on," Dash growled as she stomped a hoof into the torn apart soil. She needed to go faster, she needed to know that Pinkie was at least normal enough to be slightly winded. How was she supposed to call herself the fastest in Equestria when such a clear difference in ability was between them. She reached into her magical reserves, causing lightning to start to churn around her body. "I got to go faster," she said under her breath.

Pinkie bobbed her head to the tune of a song she was making up at the moment. She hadn't quite come up with the words yet but the rhythm was coming together nicely. The ground under Dash's hooves started to melt as she slowly started hovering in the air.  Pinkie whooped for her friend, she was really giving it her all this time. The party pony always admired how much effort Dash put into her little hobbies.

They both became blurs in the gorge. Dash was trying to hit Pinkie with everything she had, and Pinkie was laughing and giggling as she hopped skipped and jumped about without a care in the world. Crater after crater started popping up in quick succession and clouds of dust and rubble started filling the air as their 'fight' careened into the cliff. Dash machine-gunned her forehooves after the party pony as she ran along the cliff backwards, letting her Cyan friend tear up the entire face of the cliff before disengaging with the surface. Dash wasn't even aware that she had left the side of the cliff until she had slammed a hoof particularly hard against it, creating a sizable crater where she thought her friend was. She floated there in that milisecond dumbfounded. Dash realized she had been chasing the after image of Pinkie, not Pinkie herself.

She was so fast that her eyes couldn't even properly register where she was even when Dash was right on top of her. Rainbow flapped into the air and scanned the ground for any sign of her friend until she spotted her bolting across the valley with the biggest smile on her face. The Pegasus was flustered and angry, her chest was on fire, she was trembling with exhaustion, and yet Pinkie wasn't even phased after all this in the slightest.

With a powerful flap she cannon-balled through the air to slam in front of Pinkie whom abruptly stopped in her tracks in mild surprise. Dash put everything into this next attack -- even though it felt like her wings were going to fall right off. The sound around Dash's ears seemed to silence in anticipation before her flap. The rainbow that resulted in that attack was massive, glowing like the sun as its many colors scorched through the ground directly towards Pinkie. She did not have much more left in her to do something like that again, and she hoped that it at least did something to make Pinkie serious.

There was a tap on her back. Dash looked back in surprise to have a hoof there pressed into her cheek. Pinkie had managed to get behind her before the attack even fired, and now all that magical energy was entirely wasted and dissipating into the air.

"Tag! You're it silly!"

Dash swung out blindly in a rage, making Pinkie leap away and land on her hooves in a comically unsteady manner.

"We aren't playing Tag Pinkie!" Dash yelled out to the party pony " Stop fooling around! You aren't even a little tired for Celestia's sake, show me what you got!" She croaked all that out between huffs and wheezes. She felt like she was going to topple over in exhaustion but at the same time she needed to know how powerful Pinkie really was.

Pinkie seemed to ponder this a moment.

Her face then grew stony and emotionless. In that fraction of an instant Dash felt her blood run cold as a dark shadow fell across Pinkie's face, turning that happy go lucky mare into the single most terrifying things the Pegasus had ever laid eyes on. Before she was even aware Pinkie was right in front of her. She hadn't even seen Pinks run, she just seemed to pop from one place to another instantaneously. Her serious face caused goosebumps to surface over the Cyan ponies entire body as she yelped and tried to punch out at her, her hoof meeting nothing but air.

Pinkie was behind her now. The air was still. Time seemed to slow to a crawl as the mare reared her pink hoof back. All the power behind that mare's limbs was felt by Rainbow in that instant. Her animal senses screamed out to her to get out of the way ,but there wasn't enough time. She could only turn in this drawn out moment and see Pinkie close in on her.

Pinkie Pie's hoof stopped a fraction of an inch away from Dash's nose.

The resulting shock-wave from that punch -- the shock-wave alone -- made the whole world seem to rock and tremble. Dash's knees were wobbly as she didn't even want to look behind her to see the level of destruction that just took place. If Pinkie had wanted too, Rainbow would of been splattered all over the ground in an instant with a punch like that. She knew now more than ever, as she desperately tried to keep from wetting herself, that she was extremely glad Pinkie Pie was her friend.

The Party Pony's face lightened up and she tapped Dash's nose with her hoof, "BOOP!"

Rainbow stood their stunned and shaking as Pinkie ruffled her hair and began to skip off "Come on! I'm super duper hungry, you can come help me make some cupcakes back at sugarcube corner!"

"okay..." Dash said in a quaky voice. She was pretty sure she was in shock, and that was only affirmed when she worked up the courage to look behind her. She wanted to get stronger and faster, but she was certain that no matter how much more powerful she became she would never match an Earth pony like Pinkie. The Gaping hole where a Cliff used to be and the clouds that had been disturbed in the blast told her everything she needed to know about that. With a tired and trembling body, a now thoroughly humbled Rainbow Dash winced as she folded her aching wings and followed behind her buddy on unsteady hooves. It was going to be a long walk back, but she could live with it.

"You said....You said Maud was stronger than you r...right?"

"Yeppers! SUPER STRONG! I'm kinda weak since I do parties n'stuff, but if I ever got back into rock farming I probably could catch back up to her"

"N..no that's okay...you are good at parties..."
