Mackenzie, who was previously following close behind Vazquez, jumped back in fright as the monomolecular thread came in her way. She seemed to have a sixth sense for danger caused by an immense fear of sorts....

 

Nervously, she kept away from Vazquez, worried that she might accidentally cut herself on the thin wire.

Looking for any other outlet to distract herself from the nearby danger. She focused on Wolf's question. "Yes, uh, Vazquez's soul is compatible with mine!" She said with a tinge of relief.

Wolf gestured to the othres to follow her. "Lord Death's office is this way. I've done my research on this academy's interior and I remember exactly where to find him!" While she may not seem it, Wolf can actually be quite serious and analytical when needed. Even though she had only met these other students a short while ago, she already considered them as her best friends and would throw herself in front of death to save them. She also had a nack for picking up on other's emotions...

The route to Lord Death's office perplexed Vazquez. Aside from the guillotines, the office seemed to be disconnected from the rest of school.

"I believe you... I also believe it takes a lot of understanding to wield this weapon form." She raised her hand and a tiny speck on her gloved index finger started to glow, revealing a strand that slithered out and snaked around her other hands fingers. before long she had made a webbing pattern with the wires and held it up so wolf could see.

 

"I've found trying to use this as a simple blunt instrument like a sword or another base weapon is not going to be that effective." She looked mesmerized by it, think back fondly to times she had used it in her family's name. "Nor should it be thought of as a whip or something to blindly swing around like some mace on a chain. If you do that...well..."

 

A paper doll she had secretly made when she had sliced up the stray paper seemed to float out of a fold of her dress, though it was in actuality held by her wire. She lowered it down in the center of the web between her two hands and let the threads contract around it, slicing it into pieces so fine you couldn't barely see the flecks of its remains falling down to the ground.

 

"...lets just say i would be highly dangerous and counter productive." She released the web and let the wire make patterns that could barely be seen in the air.

 

"...This is a tactical weapon you see... it ensnares opponents, it cuts of their avenues of escape, it limits their movements, it weaves a web so thick around the enemy that they cannot help but be caught by the spider who conjured it in the first place, and then once they are within the wires grasp..." an audible sound of the wire whipping up wind as it clenched down on a would be adversary, rending through imagined flesh and sinew as it snuffs out the theoretical life in an instant before being called back into the finger of Evangeline.

 

She smiled at wolf. She spoke with experience and authority like she had done it before. Of course she had, many times, to dozens of intruders and adversaries of her family. Although she liked the idea of wiping out these Keishin egg monsters more she had absolutely no qualms about taking life she felt was threatening her. She may not like what her family did, but she still had their ruthlessness.

"Think nothing of it. I don't normally talk to people unless they talk to me first and You were the first Meister to talk to me. Anyway let's see what lord death wants with a bunch of freshmen." Zara took about three steps before a pounding headache hit her. "Owww my head" as suddenly as the headache came it vanished.

 

"Zara!" Vincent cried, worried about his new friend.

 

 ["Hello!" Zach looked at Vincent "hi have we been partnered"]

 

"We can give it a shot if you'd like...Zara" he replied, a little surprised at her sudden shift in personality.

"Interesting observation, Squezy" He commented, noting the sharp blades above them." Maybe it's a symbol of how meister's who walk under the Academy must lose their fear of death if they wished to procceed" He thoerized, his head still staring at the guillotines as he walked. "...Or maybe they just like scaring newbies"

"Well, Vincent, that's an interesting theory. Maybe you should ask Lord Death about it," said Vazquez.

After Evangeline's display of her abilities, Vazquez felt the need to show off a little himself.

 

"Hey, Mackenzie, I don't think I showed you what I can really do," Vazquez said as his left arm glowed and turned into a blade.

 

Vazquez proceeded to cut cleanly through the legs of the guillotines, and said, "I can cut through just about anything. My blade is just about one of the sharpest things out there. And I'm pretty simple to use too. You need just a little bit of form, but you don't really need to fuss a whole lot about technique and all of that stuff. Real simple. Plus, I'm light and durable too."

 

In addition to this display, Vazquez subtly flexed his muscles as well.

Vazquez flashed the quickest of smirks at Evangenline, full of self confidence.

Mackenzie let out a small 'eep' before quickly holding down Vazquez's sword-arm. "What are you thinking? You're damaging the grim reaper's property!" she sharply whispered. "What if he decides to use the guillotines on us? What if you cut through the supports and the guillotine falls on us anyway? What's the grim reaper even like?"

@@Watcher or Stalker?, Evangeline laughed behind her gloved hand and looked at the nervous girl trying to reign her weapon in. She was a pretty stark contrast to the weapon trying to prove himself capable. 

 

"You might want to get control of your cutlery dear. Perhaps you should crack out the user manual or something..."

Mackenzie opened her mouth to speak, but proceeded to simply grit her teeth, a shadow crossing her face as she dropped behind the group. 'That Evangeline girl is starting to piss me off.' She spat internally. Given her irritable nature, she was already surprised she had lasted this long around her.

Vazquez wasn't so subtle with his irritation.

 

"Chingada niña," he cursed out loud. "You keep calling me cutlery, and I might just fulfill that label and take a slice outta you. We'll see how much you wanna talk then."

 

Despite his instincts against making an enemy of the Romanoffs, Vazquez really wanted to fight Evangenline.

Everyone was getting riled up and Wolf didn't want any fighting to break out in front of Lord Death! Did these guys not understand who they were going to be meeting!? Wolf was about to say something when the group finally entered into Death's office. It was filled with fluffy, white, almost cartoony clouds that slowly circled the interior. It was a bright room with a large mirror toeard the back. It definitely wasn't an atmosphere one would associate with Lord Death, that's for sure.

"Hey there! Howdy! How are ya? You must be some of the new students! You being here must mean that Nygus has already interviewed all of you. (Evangeline will certainly back down if Vasquez promises her to stop escalating things and "apologizes" for laughing at her appearance earlier . Her character is very ruthless and sadistic, but if she is shown what she considers the proper respect she'll play along. Otherwise she pretty much has Vasquez on her hit list at this point. If its within Vasquez's character to swallow his pride for the sake of his meister I'd go with that.) 

 

 

 

@@Venomous, Evangeline couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at the cartoonish black cloaked thing before their group. He had such a goofy voice and appearance it actually put her on edge a little. This guy was concealing his true nature for the sake of being diplomatic. Interesting. Evangeline curtsied with a flourish of her pink gown and wore a friendly expression towards the figure. He wasn't the only one who could wear a friendlier face in this room.

Mackenzie couldn't think of anything to retort with, instead choosing to bow her head lower and drop further behind.

 

As such, she was last to enter the death room. Seeing the white clouds and clear sky... She was pleasantly surprised by the peaceful atmosphere she been expecting some sort of grim and edgy cave or dungeon.

 

Needless to say, ahem couldn't believe her eyes when she saw Mr. Reaper himself. "That's... The grim reaper?" She quietly asked no one is particular

It happened a long time ago when I decided to change my looks because I was scaring away so many people. Now that's out of the way, i'd like to give you a short rundown of the DWMA, considering you already know how we work. Here at the academy, meisters are paired with weapons and work together to destroy potential kishins. You may have also heard of the witch Medusa... She is our #1 enemy at this point and it is crucial that we defeat her. She is elusive and extremely powerful. Before anyone is sent out on a mission, however, you all must be paired up. From what Nygus has told me, all of you have already been paired?"

He's met with a dual personality  entity in the past, though his old friend was admittedly a bit too over zealous when it came to friendship  and the other one used to creep him out. Vazquez gave Evangeline a quick side glance when he asked this. He was sure she would get the message, and he was sure she would want to fight him as well.

She let out a little snicker at that, completely relaxed visually but ready to take the hatchet boy down.

"Oh! I almost forgot! I will be officially pairing all of you up with a meister or weapon to see how your souls interact! As for Vazquez, you will be paired with Mackenzie. Zach with Vincent, and Wolf with Evangeline. It will be your duty as weapons and meisters to help keep Death City as well as the rest of the world safe. Please practice resonating souls and give me updates on your progress!"

"I will have Nygus direct the fight between you and Evangeline. Please meet outside at the academy's front entrance. There, Nygys will explain some rules, okay? Have a good fight! I'll see you all later!" Death cheered.
