Dear game designers, why is the future suddelly the big hype? I can understand thats because you can literally make everything up about the game, stort and mechanics. But why does almost every game designer follow eachother, sure you want to compete, but then makd something completely diffrent. Few Games dare to Go to An alternate timeline in war, for instance what if the Russians won the cold war? Or what if Japan was never nuked. You are just to worried to make something controvircal because it will get bad media. But the truth is, controvercial. sells better. See mw2, No Russia was sooooo controvercial, yet the game sold well. Please stop going in to the future. Go as far as 2025.

I'm so excited that "1979 Revolution", a crowd-funded game about the Iranian revolution, is coming out in a few days!

History is so much better than fiction.

That's why I like Pokemon so much...

To be fair, supposedly the next Call of Duty title will be set in the 'very far future', according to rumors. That is most likely because Infinity Ward is out of ideas though.

Don't know how they can keep going further into the future with those games. Soon they will go so far into the future that the weapons will be rocks and sticks

So basically they will go so far into the future that they will circle back to the stone age. I actually would love to see that. XD

I was more referring to the fact that they go so far in the future that the world has been destroyed by nukes or something from war and they lose all tech like guns so they are now fighting with sticks and rocks again but I guess they could also loop back to the stone age XD.

It's call of duty so logic doesn't matter

I understand that many games have futuristic themes and the future is the primary focus, but I think that there are also many games that focus on their own universe instead. There are also quite a few games that are based in modern settings. The point is, I don't see a consistent pattern of futuristic themes in modern-day video games.
