gaming Nintendo's Miitomo

Troblems

Recommended Posts

So Nintendo came out with an app similar to Tomodachi Life, except that you can play with your actual friends from your smart phone. Has anyone picked it up yet? I got a notification from my 3DS saying it was a thing, and decided to try it out. Unfortunately, it only seems like you can add Facebook, Twitter, or face to face friends, rather than Nintendo friends, which seems incredibly stupid to me. There's also a distinct possibility that I missed the ability to add Nintendo friends. >.>

Edit: adding QR code dealio, an incredibly inelegant design.

Edit 2: Twitter is Trollblems

I thought the same thing. They should've utilized friend codes. xD Should we make this a sharing thread? I just downloaded it today and could use some friends on it.

Edit: '0xjackiex0' <--- Twitter I just made like, an hour ago for this damn app.

Add me anyway lol.

Honestly... I am rather disappointed with the app... Really Nintendo should have just released a simple Nintendo Network communication app like Playstation or Xbox. This app is rather boring and makes communicating with other Nintendo players still annoying and difficult. No direct messaging and really a bad sign of the direction that Nintendo is likely going to go with the NX since they can't even seem to master creating a way for players to communicate with each other.

Since I do have a healthy amount of friends in real life, I am actually having some decent fun with the app.

What caught me off guard and actually made me laugh so hard the first time I tried it (which might be a good thing (and I'm not sure if you guys noticed this already)) was the fact that there is no language filter. Which means that none of the vulgar words are censored (like a**, f***, c***, b****, etc.). I laughed my butt off so hard after realizing that "Nintendo decided to let the f-bombs loose." Seeing that the app was supposed to be rated "E" for quite literally, everyone!

I honestly think this is a good experiment for Nintendo to work with as their first ever mobile app.

I was so surprised at that too! One of the questions was, "What was something you bought on accident?" And I put "A prostitute" AND IT ACCEPTED IT I ALMOST LOST IT LOL

Keeping the language uncensored makes sense. You are talking with your friends, after all. Not random strangers.

I don't know about this one in particular, but many ESRB-rated games have a "game experience may change with online play" disclaimer, meaning that the online mode possibly exceeds the ESRB rating.

I love this app! I think it's rather fun and great for getting to know friends and internet friends based on the questions being asked. :) I do enjoy answering such questions for some reason - I've always loved questionnaires and such. And MiiFoto... MiiFoto is perfect. I haven't taken any especially funny pictures, but I really like using it!

The only downside to this is connecting to Twitter can lead to many, many complete strangers sending you friend requests. Luckily, I don't mind too much! The more the merrier, I guess? :P And I don't share any personal information anyway.

I think the clothing in Miitomo is a little expensive too, but if you save up enough then you can make some pretty sweet outfits! :squee:

Here's mine! :) Add me, if you like!

It's not perfect, but I think Nintendo's foray into social media is actually quite cute and fun. Although I've only made one friend so far.

I still haven't figured out an outfit I want to wear, and really don't like the way they've done it... Not allowing you to sell clothes you purchased before, only purchasing one color of an item when there are multiple... Yikes, it all is very obvious money-making methods for Nintendo. D:

Which is why using real money is completely optional. You are not required to spend real-life money in the Miitomo social app.

I never said it was, what I am saying is that the stipulations I mentioned above are clearly designed to lead someone to think of spending real money.

Of course it is. Nintendo is a business like any other. Businesses in general need money to stay alive (operative) and relevant to the consumer.

...Yeah, but they could at least allow for selling unwanted clothing items for in-game coins. Not having that option is pretty rare even for an app/site like this (think Gaia Online, they allow you to sell your items in many ways). And if they're really going to hold to that stipulation, they should at least allow color options for items you have already purchased. It's just too much, combined.

I suppose they do give you a nice amount of coins for adding friends... But I'm far too shy to do that. T.T Like who would want to be friends with me and have to see all of my boring answers to the questions? *sigh*

Sooner or later there should be an update that allows you to sell your clothing items in Miitomo for sure.

As long as we give feedback in the App Store/Google Play Store about it of course.

* i decided to try this out a few days ago and i found it really cute, but the problem is i don't have a lot of friends to really interact with on it, so it seemed pretty pointless. i also read up that the QR codes you can share isn't actually a way to add someone, it's just a way to create that mii on your own app for the miifotos.

* i've gotten rid of the app for now, but i'll happily get it again if they actually make it so that you can add people with QR codes. i don't really feel like logging into my twitter and stuff like that to add anyone.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure a future update may allow you to scan QR codes to add people and also search them up by username.
