Can past pony generation have its own subforum in Sugarcube Corner?

The description of SC says that its a forum to discuss meetups, merchandise, and the past pony generations. Two of those have their own subforums, but past generation pony does not. The main forum is mainly used for 4th generation Brony related topics. It's difficult to start a past gen pony topic, and get serious replies (if anyone replies at all), in a sea of 4th gen admirers who dislike past gen ponies.

but most of those pony sites have little activity acros the board. Most are dead. And mlparea, which is the hub for past gen pony, doesn't seem to havd a forum for past gen talk that isn't centered around merchandise exclusively

How about we make a poll and ask people, who actually want a sub-forum for this.

While I see the good behind your suggestion, the problem is if a demand exists for this subsection to be created.

 

Under normal circumstances, new sections are created due to a high demand of that topic (for example, the Comics section was created last year to satisfy such demand), and I don't believe that there is enough demand on here to warrant the creation of a subforum like that one and expect a fair level of activity from it.

We usually identify demand based on the number of topics created on a subject, or an expected increase of demand. I don't like polls in Feedback because it creates a response bias issue that may kill the idea.

 

I can tell you that we would not create a new subforum unless/until I had enough volunteers on staff to go through all of MLP to locate all the prior created G1-3 topics. Alternatively if this idea is ok'd members could also assist by going through and reporting these topics. Finally I'm against making new forums until we have a logo icon for a new forum.

 

Regardless staff will discuss.

fair enough. Just speaking from my own experience, though, because it seems like demand for past gen pony is low (not just on this site), it just made sense to me to suggest a suborum past gen hub, since progression is inevitable, and eventually Future gens of pony will be created, while past gens a left behind, and when the time comes (if the site is still alive), g4 would also be settled there.

 

For now, being assured staff will discuss a past gen forum is good for me. I'll make peace with whatever you guys decide
