Who do you think is oldest pony?

Who is it and why do you think that pony is the oldest in the history of my little pony?

Hint: It's not an Alicorn

Well, the royal sisters are over a thousand years old and Celestia is the oldest of the two. So I'm going to say that Celestia is the oldest pony.

Out of the mane 6, I am going with RD, I view her as that older woman who hangs with the younger kids to be "cool".

Out of the whole show, non-alicorn, Is eather Granny smith, or if you watch 100th ep closely, Doctor whooves does make a quip about he spent a long time on the time trivial. If you want to dive deeper into the mind games, The ponies of the crystal empire were pulled from time for at least a thousand years, so any of them could be easily oldest.

If you want to go into the history of the franchise, AJ is year two gen 1 ponies (Minty is gen 1 year 1)   Followed by Twilight and Moondancer

Discord is probbaly the oldest but he is not a pony.

My headcannon of the main 6 is that Applejack and Rarity are the oldest, Twilight and Fluttershy year younger and Pinkie Pie and Raninbow Dash the youngest. This is because of their maturity levels, Applejack saying her family getting cutie marks late so she would be probably one of the oldest of the mane 6, Fluttershy being a year older than Pinkie and the reason I feel Rainbow had not tried to become a Wonderbolt before the series becan is because she was just not old enough. And I like the pattern of there being 3 age groups of the mane 6. But this is just a headcannon.

If you want to go into the history of the franchise

Why yes that was my endgame. But the eldest pony actually goes further even. All the way to My Prettiest Pony by Bonnie Zacherie.

Do you know the pony who was from the era and survived all the way to Gen 4? You probably do but...

"My life's work, decades centuries, really of research and experimentation, and I nearly had it cracked! Turns out there's a magic spell for it. Who knew?"- Doctor Whooves

We've found our answer.

Hi, as this topic doesn't specifically pertain to the show I'm going to move it to Sugarcube Corner, assuming my hunch is right that your question extends to all iterations of MLP, in which case the oldest pony I'm aware of is Applejack who has had variations dating back to G1.;)

Without stretching way too far than you should reasonably have to, it's gotta be Applejack if they've made it to gen4.

I couldn't find much on the My Pretty Pony stuff, but what I did find was Butterscotch, who only made it up to G3, if only by name alone, and that was still a My Little Pony toy that was sold with the far larger My Pretty Pony toy in the My Pretty Pony and Beautiful Baby set.

Though, I did only do a half-hour or so of research before coming to this conclusion, so maybe someone else knows more. :I

You're talking about the oldest pony? It would have to be Celestia for numerous reasons..

1: She is an Alicorn, a race which has a greater lifespan than all the other races.. (Stated in Journal of the two sisters)
2: Celestia has been around for thousands of years, as has Luna..

3: She is the eldest of the two sisters.. Which means that Luna cannot be the oldest.. (Evidence from multiple sources)
4: She was already an adult and in charge of Equestria shortly after it's founding..
Which for all we know could still be hundreds of years old for an Alicorn.. (Journal of the two sisters and Family appreciation day)
5: We have not seen an older Alicorn than Celestia, so there are no other options..
6: If you were thinking of Tirek "Because he was in Gen 1" you're WRONG..
Because Tirek is NOT a pony.. he is a Centaur.. Therefor not the oldest "pony" (He also hates ponies.. But you already knew that..)
7: If you were thinking of Star Swirl, we have not heard from him, and if he has.. "passed"
(which is highly likely) then that would mean he is no longer aging, and Celestia would
have surpassed his age by now.. (Alicorns still have a longer lifespan than Unicorns too..)

Princess Celestia is indeed the Eldest pony of all Equestria :sunbutt:

Overall, I'd say Celestia. She and Luna are that old, yet neither one of them look like they're 40.

As for the mane six, I'd say probably Rainbow or Rarity.

What this peep said pretty much sums up my thoughts on the question, and since I'm feeling lazy to day...

I'll just quote and say I agree.  :orly:

Uh, I feel like there was a version of My Pretty Pony that came with a Peachy. I'm not sure, though. But there was a MPP with Peachy's coloring and symbol. So I'm going to say Peachy.

It all depends on how you want to rule consistency.

In the My Pretty Pony toy line back in 1981 there were *technically* three ponies in that line. The original brown pony with a white blaze on the face (no cutie-mark). At this time, this character had no name and was colored to resemble an actual horse. This was made under the Romper Room label (a division of Hasbro), but Hasbro didn't own the IP for it at that time. They were producing the toy under license from the original creative team of Bonnie Zacherle, Charles Muenchinger, and Steve D'Aguanno.

Later in 1981, another toy was added to the line that was pink, with seven red hearts as what eventually would be called a cutie-mark. Although not named at the time, when the franchise was renamed My Little Pony they produced a smaller toy that had the same coloration & cutie-mark named 'Peachy'. There was also an otherwise identical white pony toy released, but it was a manufacturing error and was not meant to be white.

In 1983 the original brown toy was re-released packaged with an actual My Little Pony toy (Butterscotch) as 'My Pretty Pony and Beautiful Baby' immediately before the toy line was renamed My Little Pony and Butterscotch was released as an independent toy along with five other MLP toys.

So if you're looking for the oldest My Little Pony, it's Butterscotch. If you allow My Pretty Pony... it's Peachy. Unless you allow the nameless brown pony that started the whole thing. :)
