So, Where's Alternate Reality Sunset?

Friendship Games had touched upon Twilight's human counterpart, but how about Sunset Shimmer.

 

I know they most likely won't go into it in future movies since we already had that plot with human Twilight, but it still begs the question: where is Sunset's human counterpart? Sunset was originally from Equestria, so logically there has to be another version of her somewhere in that universe.

 

And unlike Twilight, who the human Pinkie knew about, nobody seems to have recognized Sunset at all. Is it just presumed Sunset's counterpart lives far away?

One of the great mysteries of EQG.  Maybe she's an anomaly and there there never was a Sunset in that world, or maybe Hasbro are just hoping that nobody notices, or that everyone that has noticed, will just forget about it, maybe they just don't know how to deal with it themselves, or just don't care.  It does seem a little odd that three films in it hasn't been acknowledged let alone addressed.

THANK YOU! I've been asking this same question since I finished the last movie. I like to think that Sunset is probably in another town. Although EG has established that a lot of the Equestria locations are all within that single city in the human world, the human world must surely be larger than just a single city and a couple of high schools. Perhaps Sunset lives in the human world equivalent of Yakyakistan or wherever the griffins are from (can't remember the name of their home country off the top of my head).

 

Come to think of it, I don't remember seeing the human equivalent of Glenda the Griffin. They're probably together somewhere, talking about how lame everyone is.

Good question! Since we did see the Twilight from the human world and Equestria interact with each other, I am sure the Sunset from our world will pop up sometime.

It's likely that we may never know. Maybe they'll bring it up in a future movie, but I think having both Sunset's in one place would be redundant. Sci-Twi's appearance was a Sequel Hook/Stinger for the second movie, a major plot point in Friendship Games and a way to stop needing to shoehorn Twilight into subsequent films.

 

Granted, I have my own theories as to Human Sunset's whereabouts, but I doubt any of them even come close to the real answer.

I would love it if it turns out Sunset was actually from the human world all along. She discovered the portal to Equestria at a very young age by accident and then lived a majority of her life in Equestria.

This has honestly been my #1 question in regards to Equestrian Girls since Rainbow Rocks, and it actually annoys me we have never even got a hint of what's up with the human Sunset Shimmer. Of course it would make sense if she was from another town, though I personally like to think that she made her way to Equestrian somehow.

 I'm not surprised they addressed it with Twilight, I don't think they're gonna do it again with Sunset. And if they did I'll bet she'll just be bitchy Sunset again

She will probably show up eventually. I'm hoping she's still in a kind of evil phase.

 

If I were writing for EqG, I'd have Human Sunset as the antagonist of a movie where she is the rising-star protoge of world famous explorer, adventurer, archaeologist and historian Daring-Do, making both Sunset's the students of great people. She is also the student of Doctor Whoves/Time Turner, as she is also an inventor. The two have a crack-team of specialists including Doctor Whoves/Time Turner and Starlight Glimmer and possibly others.

 

The Movie would be about Sunset's team discovering a source of old Human magic which is both dangerous and threatens to corrupt Human Sunset. This movie would explain more about Human world magic and history, and where all the magic went. I'd also have Discord as a Chaos spirit who is disguised as the eccentric Human curator of a Museum which is actually built on top of a magic hallow, which he protects. He'd somehow at least mildly related to the plot of the Movie, something to do with artefacts related to the archaeological dig Sunset's team is doing.

Sorry, that's wrong. The sunny we've been following is outright stated to be Celestia's former student, and her knowledge to equestrian magic and (former) desires to conquer Equestria, outright states she's the pony Sunny
