Alicorn magic being evil?

It has been questioned what alicorn magic truly is but the newest episode "No second prances" gave a possible yet Vague answer. In the episode Trixie briefly mentions that she used a soul sucking evil amulet which is most likely the same amulet that is known as the alicorn amulet. I'm not sure if this line is in any way important but it may help with a lead on this whole mystery on alicorns. Sadly, I can't think of any evidence besides this and that one scene in the season 4 opener episode but maybe someone can. Post what you think. Do you think alicorn magic could have some connection with dark magic or is that just crazy? If you have any evidence that's with or against this please do tell me.

Even though I'm usually a fan of theories like this, I just can't believe this one. Alicorns are supposed to be the rulers and the examples for their subjects. I won't consider this theory, because like you said, there's not much evidence.

About the "alicorn amulet", there's only one way I see the amulet and his name, and I always say it. The soul sucking amulet is not named alicorn because it has any connection to actual alicorns, but because it artificially lets beings who hunger for power and are envious of alicorns able to compete with them and reach their level of power (at the cost of their goddamned soul of course). That's the only explanation that makes sense to me.

Magic in the cartoon is a tool, any like any tool can be used for a variety of purposes.  It is the wielder of the tool, that will determine how it is used, be that for good or evil.

That being said, the Alicorn Amulet is a rather more specific item, of which we know very little.  It may be that the amulet amplifies the emotions of the person wearing it, and so Trixe, who had malicious (if not evil) intent when she donned the amulet, just became a more extreme version of herself.  On the other hand, perhaps the amulet had been cursed by a previous owner to pervert the intentions of anyone who wears it.  Even though Twilight Sparkle was quite emphatic in her denial that curses actually exist in 'Bridle gossip', her own use of the 'want it, need it' spell in 'Lesson zero', and the book that Rarity acquires in 'Inspiration manifestation' show quite clearly that Twilight doesn't know nearly as much about magic as she claims to.

Of course both of those theories I mention are simply conjecture and supposition.  I do think however, that suggesting that Alicorn magic is somehow linked to 'dark' magic is a bit of a stretch.  The same magic could be used by an Alicorn (or any other magic wielding pony) for any purpose, good or evil.  Any 'darkness' lies solely within the heart of the wielder.

Outside of the alicorn amulet, I can't say that we even have enough evidence so far in the show to actually come up to an conlcusion that alicorn magic is actually evil or not.

In the season 4 opener Zecora told Twilight to use alicorn magic and it looked exactly the same as the magic used by Celestia to represent evil and disharmony in the season 3 opener.
