Should Luna have a student?

With twilight taking on starlight as her student. and Cadence having a baby. Do you think Luna should take on a student? I mean she is the only princess who hasn't anyone to teach.

Who do you want to see as her student, a new pony? or somepony from the show? (personally, i'd love for her to take on a new child)

What could she teach? Night aliened magic? about the stars? How to have your T.O.M. way to hard

Oooh! Intriguing idea! Yes, definitely! I'm not sure what pony from the show would work since they probably would have already become a student by now if they were going to. But a new pony, a new child pony would be fascinating. It would also give the writers a quality new character to work with. Maybe Luna could teach her/him about the stars that aided in her escape. There never was enough explanation for that.

While having no designated pupil of her own, Luna does walk through the dreams of the ponies and offers help should they need some.

Best example would be when Scootaloo had those nightmares during Sleepless in Ponyville or Sweetie Belle's dreams in For Whom the Sweetie Belle Tolls.

Luna just seems to be one with the younger foals so she'd most likely be affiliated with them in some way should it go for tutoring.

This could be something that I would like to see happen in the show.

After her interactions with the CMC, I think it would be interesting to see Luna take on a student of her very own.

Hmmm.... this is a very interesting idea. I'm honestly quite surprised that no one else has brought up this idea. Celestia has Twilight, Twilight has Starlight (and Sunset Shimmer to an extent), and Cadence has Flurry Heart. This leaves the Princess of the Night with no one  :adorkable:.

Luna has been shown to be quite the exceptional teacher when it came to the CMC, so I think it would be interesting if she had a protege of her own.

Been there, covered that. Still hold the same opinion I do, then.

Luna already had "students": The CMC! Luna has helped each of the Crusaders individually: Scootaloo in "Sleepless in Ponyville", Sweetie Belle in "For Whom the Sweetie Belle Tolls", and Apple Bloom in "Bloom and Gloom". Heck, when the CMC finally got their Cutie Marks and sent a photo to the Royal Sisters, Celestia moves the photo closer to Luna, as if saying, "Look sis! Your students have finally succeeded just as Twilight did for me!"

Luna's Student should be Trixie! think about it! She was once really evil, so wasn't Trixie! Trixie is often seen at times as the protagonist / Rival of Twilight and so isn't Celestia to Luna in their past. Celestia is the sun and twilight is the dusk and both Luna and Trixie ( Lullamoon ) are the night. They both have a " I am more important than you" personality trait, especially if you recall Luna trying to act official and princess like in the first Nightmare Night episode. Plus, looking at the two together and they have a lot of color synergy between them. A lot of their colors fit well and since Twilight has a pupil already which is Starlight whom is already friends with Trixie now, it would be perfect for Trixie to be taken under the wing of Luna.

I want to say yes, but I think there is a potential issue with Luna in regards to trusting her with a student. Yes, she has shown to be a great mentor to the CMC, but she doesn't teach them like Celestia taught Twilight, or like Twilight is teaching Starlight. The problem is that Luna has shown troubling mental stability in the past, and it hasn't been long enough since "Do Princesses Dream of Magical Sheep" to really see if she has fully recovered from her own issues. Granted we have seen her improve thanks to the previously mentioned episode, but I think she needs to show longer-term improvement at this stage before taking on an apprentice.

That said, Twilight has shown that she is FAR from the perfect teacher, so the same could apply to Luna. Teaching is, in it's own way, a learning experience.

She already has a relationship with every pony in Equestria as the dreamwarden.  I like the fact that she has gradually come to accept and embrace that role throughout the run of the cartoon, and I don't think there is an obvious student-shaped hole that needs to be filled.

Celestia's day is enjoyed by all of the ponies of Equestria together, they work, play, have picnics and socialise in the light of the sun.  The night is best enjoyed in peace and quiet, a time for solitary reflection, and Luna personifies that.  In this case I'd rather see the status quo maintained and Luna left as the one who walks alone through the dreamscape.

hah, reminds me of all the S1 jokes about how luna should take on Trixie as a student to parallel twilight and celestia :P

I kind of like to headcanon that, in the NMM timeline, Rarity was NMM's student as well as maid/butler.

Luna having her own student wouldn't be a bad idea, speculated by fans alike and maybe it could happen if just so happens that she piques an interest.

Of course, a problem here is "WHO". Who would Luna take on as a student?
Honestly, Unless its starlight glimmer, it'd probably have to be a whole new character. There's just not that many characters shown in the show who practice magic (apart from Trixie, and I listed a reason against her below). Sunburst and starlight are really the only currently introduced characters.

You could try and saddle her with one of the mane six, but Only rarity is a unicorn and she's a fashion designer, not a mage. (Though, if you were doing the Comic canon, you could try and finangle "She's sort of taking advice from her due to the nightmare rarity thing", but that would STILL be a huge stretch given how its been like 2 years since that plotline happened)

Luna's Student should be Trixie!

The thing is, Trixie honestly doesn't have something like that as a her life's goal though. In the past I kind of thought it'd be cool if Trixie was shown in an epilogue to become a great wizard, but then I realized it just doesn't "fit" her.

Trixie is a show pony, not a "real" wizard. She's basically an actor. Its like someone who plays a gladiator in a movie; they want to be seen as that person, but they don't want to BE a Gladiator hero. Her Ambition is to be beloved on stage and entertain ponies, not go out and fight monsters or conjure epic spells.

The ONLY reason she'd ever want to go down the path of training her "Real" magic skills and not just Show magic is if she were trying to one up Twilight, but Trixie's just not obsessed enough with Twilight to dedicate her life to something different from her normal life's goal JUST to one up twilight (Or at least not after the alicorn amulet incident)

aparently you forgot about alicorn amulet trixie and nightmare moon. Don't use the amulet and the dark powers luna had as a proxy for their evil. It was Trixies greed and turned her to the dark side and she knew what would happen when wearing the amulet. Luna was fully aware of what she was doing. Her hatred of her sister turned her evil, power was offered and she accepted it.

In both their cases there was no evil just jealousy trixie for jealousy of Twilight. Luna for jealousy of celestia.

It'd certainly be a neat idea, but probably not. It would be neat to have an episode where she does, and that pony becomes evil or whatever, idolizing the Nightmare Moon side of her instead of Luna.

Like alha starwars that would be funny . You were the chosen one but you went to the dark instead of the light.
