animation Anime recommendations :)

I've noticed a lot of you guys seem to like anime here so I thought I'd ask for recommendations. I'm not a huge anime watcher at all (I watched some when I was younger) but I'm sick and stuck home for about another week and I'm bored :P I need new shows to watch.

When I was younger I would watch Cardcaptor Sakura. I also watched the Canadian dub when I was even younger. I liked the dub when I was 10 but when I watched the original when I was about 16 I much preferred it.

I also watched Pokemon up until the Hoenn league. I got bored of it. I've watched some of the X and Y series and that seemed quite good. I may watch some more.

I watched Sailor Moon when I was a kid too.

Stuff like Cardcaptor Sakura would be nice :)

One Piece,

THIS is the best anime I have ever watched!

Don't be discouraged by the episode count, every arc (about 50 episodes) makes up a complete story, in which you will cry, you will smile, you'll feel a lot of the emotions.

It's just the best!

Other recommendations:

  • Hetalia
  • Law of Ueki
  • Attack on Titan
  • One punch Man
  • Naruto
  • Boku no Hero Academia

Well I watch many different genres, so I'm going to recommend something recent. Boku no hero academia, funny anime that I'm sure you'd enjoy. If you like animes like Attack on titan, there's Kabaneri of the iron fortress which is great. Then there's Tokyo ghoul of course, parasyte was good too. Now like I said I've seen many different genres, so all those above wouldn't fit like romance but I like romcom so just to name a few like Oreimo I really enjoyed, then there's classics like Lucky star which is slice of life. Oh also, one that's also airing Anne Happy or unhappy is funny so that's some at least on the surface I can recommend more if you'd like. :)

I think you'd like shugo chara. Its cute and funny :) it's what i'm watching right now too^^

Plus, it can even be kinda deep with the 'true personality' themes and all. And easter is sometimes scary.

Its a great anime for any kind of taste i think.

I would recommend some animes such as Hetalia and Attack on Titan: Juniot High.

Not only do these anime sometimes have adorable moments, but some funny, amusing ones as well. I do hope these are a liking to you.

Oh, I would also recommend Princess Tutu. Another underrated magical girl anime. It's like a Disney movie...It's a bit dark but still relatively childsafe.

>OP Clearly asks for magical girl anime

>People say completely random anime shows they like

@, It's a little bit darker than Cardcaptor Sakura, but I suggest checking out Madoka (or Puella Magi Madoka Magica / Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica). To explain it simply: It's about girls with magic powers who fight against monsters that only they can see. I can't really give away anything else about the show because it's a mystery story that's best experienced if you watch it without knowing anything about it. The show takes place in both a normal everyday-life setting but also in a very surreal setting.

Here's some examples

This show has only 12 episodes so it's perfect if you just want something to do for a few days. It has a dub if you prefer watching in English, but I think the original Japanese voices are superior. If you enjoy the show there are 2 recap movies and a sequel move to watch afterwards as well.

Another suggestion would be Ultra Maniac. I actually haven't seen this one myself but from what I've heard it sounds similar to these magical girl shows and should be pretty good as well. This one is more lighthearted and has some romance stuff in it as well. http://myanimelist.net/anime/178/Ultra_Maniac

Now in no way am I an anime expert or have actually watched any up until recently. But just the other day I finished watching a one season series called Your Lie in April. It's a music, drama, romance genre and I don't think I've ever experienced anything that powerful from any book or show before. It has an amazing story with great characters and ended perfectly. It's even made it to one of my all-time favorite shows.

  • 3 weeks later...

I too watched Cardcaptor Sakura growing up, as well as the original Pokemon series. More recently, I got addicted to Avatar: The Last Airbender and Avatar: The Legend of Korra, and RoosterTeeth's online 3-D American anime, RWBY.

I only really got started into anime last year, but so far, I have enjoyed each one I've watched!

(This is the order I watched them in)

Tengen Toppa: Gurren Lagann

Attack on Titan

Sword Art Online

Deathnote

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

I'm somewhat of a casual anime watcher too. Looks like I'm probably late to this party, but in my defense I was in Japan.:D If you like maho shojo(magical girl) anime, maybe try Magic Knight Rayearth. It's another series by Clamp, and easily my favourite Clamp series. It's about three girls who enter a magical world and are tasked with "rescuing" a princess so they can fulfill a prophesy and go home. It's pretty cliched aside from the Magic Knights being girls, but the sequel series is awesome, though you kind of have to see the first series to get into it. However, even the first series is solid, and even the English dub is good.

Cardcaptors unfortunately came at the tail end of the "censor everything Japanese and pretend it's a cartoon" era of English dubs on tv. I'm somewhat amused that that type of dub has been brought back with Yokai Watch, which makes even less sense given its roots in Japanese folklore. But yeah, Magic Knight Rayearth all the way.

To be honest, I don't know what to recommend you aside from some popular anime. I would recommend Star vs. the Forces of Evil, but that's not really an anime...

I don't recommend Sword Art Online, however...
