Could Twilight help to promote friendship in our world?

In Equestria she is the princess of friendship and has managed to do a pretty good job, but do you think she could be very effective at promoting friendship in our world? Like say even if purely symbolically she was also the princess of friendship in our world could she be very effective at promoting friendship in our world, or is our world to different/screwed up for her to be very effective?

I don't think she will do much help. It's easy to be a saint in paradise, but human society is not such a paradise. Material needs are overweight the spiritual needs some times. Besides, Twilight actually don't have much special skills or characteristic promoting friendship. The only thing makes Twilight a princess is her strong magic power that other ponies do not have, while this advantage does not exist on earth. Other ponies of mane six, especially Fluttershy, might  be much more qualified to help humanity with friendship.

I would say no because even the most friendly people can get butthurt over MLP so that could cause some controversy.

Of course she can! If she promotes friendship to our world, there would be less chances of conflicts, people that can get to understand each other a lot more and we all can even do the impossible.

She probably could to some extent, but it would be way more difficult than it is in Equestria.

 

Real-world friendships are a hell of a lot more complicated than they are in MLP.

So far, it appears that friendship requires "good" ponies in order to work. It might prove difficult since our world does not distinguish "good" and bad" as much. It's all relative to a context.

This is a tough question. Friendship seems to be something that is pretty much built into pony society, some just seem to have trouble with it. Humans? Well....we all know that as a whole, humanity is not the friendliest bunch regardless of anything. There are good people and bad people, that is obvious, but overall, humanity is probably too far gone for even Twilight to manage. Twilight would at least love our space stuff and other sciences at least. She could come out of it with that silver lining.

Friendship in this world is the same as friendship in any other. If Twilight can promote it in Equestria, why not here? I mean, who wouldn't listen to an adorable purple pony like that? I would! And if things didn't go as hoped, she could always bring Fluttershy along to give everybody 'The Stare.'  :awuh:

Short answer: no.

 

Long answer: we have had many people who promote peace, harmony and/or unity over the entirety of human history, and many have ended up dead or were imprisoned. Here's a few examples: Martin Luther King Jr, assassinated 4th April 1968; Mahatma Gandhi, assassinated 30th January 1948; Nelson Mandela, imprisoned for 27 years; and to some extent President John.F.Kennedy (known to support the civil-rights movement, initiated the 'Peace Corps' stating that they were to 'promote world peace and friendship'), assassinated 22nd November 1963 (reason why is unknown, but it may have been due to his turn to peace). My point is that no matter who promotes it, there will always be some prat who opposes world friendship. The fact that Twilight is a multi-coloured magic pony would only worsen the matter as people would almost certainly say something along the lines of 'Why should we listen to her? She isn't human.' and many would not treat her with the attitude you probably should have to a sentient, regardless of whether they're human or not. Humans are much less capable of accepting the concept of universal friendship and equal treatment than ponies, which I reckon (going into personal theories here) is primarily because we are evolved predators with an imbedded pack/group mentality (alpha males and females lead, due to physical prowess, beating the previous leader, or being more influential and manipulative of other members of the group) that you can find amongst Wolves and Chimpanzees, and find traces of amongst human society today. We seem to want to prove that we are better than other people, probably due to the fact that the alpha(s) of a group would usually get first pick of the available resources; we do not see many traces of anything like this in the show, so it's safe to assume that this doesn't happen, therefore making ponies more accommodating of peace and friendship.
