Are the songs from Equestria Girls really that disliked?

I am talking about the first one here. I was watching a top ten worst MLP songs video and 4 of them were from Equestria girls. I have also heard others say they didn't really like the music. I thought they were alright personally.

I like the Song " Helping Twilight win the Crown " and it even is my favorite Song of all Mlp.

I enjoy many, if not all of the songs from Rainbow Rocks and Friendship Games.

 

However, "Helping Twilight Win the Crown" is honestly the only song from the first movie that I can remember. I know there were others, but I only have vague and hazy memories of them.

 

So yeah, personally I'm not too big a fan of the songs of the first movie, but I love love LOVE all the others!

The songs are actually what I usually see being praised above all else with those movies, especially the ones from Rainbow Rocks. I even like the songs from the first movie, as cliche as they are. Helping Twilight is a special kind of addicting. That song is so catchy.

I like most EQG songs, but my favs would be "Shine like Rainbows" and "What more is out there".

In general, at least when the first EqG premiered, the songs were one of the bigger contentions. Granted people generally liked "The Cafeteria Song (Helping Twilight Win The Crown)," but in general people didn't care for the poppy-feel that the music had. In a sense I can agree as most of the music (at least the vocal stuff) is forgettable.

 

However it does seem like people have warmed up to them over time, but then again people remember Rainbow Rocks for a few reasons, and the music is one of them.

Helping Twilight Win The Crown is like one of the most popular songs. Even I enjoy the song, and I don't even like EQG.

I actually do agree that RR music is better than FIM's at the moment, I just disagree for the other 2. EQG especially, as apart from "helping twilight win the crown" it seemed pretty phoned in IMO. My little pony friends is good, but it never actually appeared in the movie I don't think.

And FG was a massive step down from RR, even if I think its still better than EQG. But as a whole, FIM still trumps EQG. S6 has been pretty lacking in songs so far, but S5's songs like the magic inside, Light of your cutie mark and time for the spectacle were all 10/10.

Unlike everyone I have watched the Equestria Girls movies with, I really do enjoy the music. It's cute, it's catchy. It's the main redeeming quality, if you ask me.

I think the main reason that the EQ songs seem to be more disliked has to do with the fact that a show that was breaking female stereotypes suddenly turned tail and reinforced them instead. The songs are catchy for sure, but it left a bitter aftertaste because it reeked of selling out.

I actually really enjoy the soundtrack to the first Equestria Girls, not to mention the other two's soundtracks (which are admittedly superior in my opinion). I guess some people don't like the soundtrack to the first one because it's so different from what we we're used to in FiM.

To be honest a lot of my favorite FIM songs come form the EQG franchise.

Especially when it regards to Rainbow Rocks.

If they are disliked it isn't by me. I personally love all of the EQG songs. That isn't to say that I put every song on the same level as I enjoy some of them more than others but I can't say I dislike any of them.

And the main show's songs are? Not likely.   "Let It Go" is a phenomenon. Nothing in FiM is close to it, it's like comparing a child's finger paintings to the Mona Lisa.

 

In general, I like the EQG songs, at least from RR on. FG has some good ones, too, like Unleash the Magic and ACADECA. Sure the musical style is different, but given the differing mood of the show and the EQG movies, they couldn't NOT be different. 

 

Although, in the end, enjoyment of music is largely a subjective thing. If you don't like the music from the movies, fine, but ask yourself: do I dislike the music in and of itself, or do I dislike the music because it's from EQG?

I actually loved those. I don't know why. I just really liked that funny feeling of such a poppy-feel <3 <3
