What's the liklihood of Sunset showing up in the movie?

Sunset seems to be limited to the Equestria Girls franchise. As much as I like her as a character, I don't see any reason why she'd be in the movie.

As much as I hope she makes an appearance, I'm not holding my breath for it. Of course anything is possible, but I don't believe we should be hedging our bets on such a possibility.

And SS, in theEQG movie DID say that she wanted to go back to pony world, in the deleted scenes...

Deleted scenes that didn't made it out in the final product, plus, she decided to stay a while anyway. She decided to be pony again later, I doubt the movie will be the place to do so, as she's basically the face of EG

I would make a rash assumption here that pretty much everyone who has seen the EQG films will have seen FiM, but not everyone who watches FiM will have seen EQG.  Given that, to have a character that doesn't exist in FiM suddenly turn up in the film would be rather confusing to the latter group.  I wouldn't be overly surprised if they stuck a cameo appearance in to pander to her fans, but it certainly wouldn't be a significant role.

 

I quite like Sunset as a character in EQG, but she doesn't exist in FiM, and to my mind she doesn't belong in that part of the franchise, especially now that we have Starlight Shimmer in FiM taking up the exact same space that Sunset would be occupying if she existed.

she doesn't exist in FiM at this point in time, butshe would have, at some point, seeing as how pony Flash does, and has been shown twice now. She was born a pony, and exists as an imbalance in the human world, if "Reflections" is anything to go by. Pony magic wasn't supposed to exist in the human world, and crossovers never meant to happen, with two of the same person in one world.

Sunny can and should belong in the franchise, not only because she was born pony, but because in spite of Glimmer as Twilight's student, there's a lot more that Sunny could be, without filling that role.

Better? - That's a matter of opinion.

 

Cuter? - So's that.

 

Came first? - Technically yes, but also no.  Starlight Shimmer first appeared in FiM in the opener of series 5, Sunset first appeared in FiM in...

 

More popular? - Possibly, but I'd need to see an accurate statistical source to comment on that one.

 

Wants to go back home and be a pony again, so best time to do it would lead up to it in Everfree, and then have her show in the pony movie? - It could happen, but that would mean Hasbro effectively abandoning the whole EQG franchise if they banish the poster girl of said franchise to Equestria.  I'm not sure if they'd want to do that.  We'll have to wait for that film to see.

 

It's certainly not impossible for her to make an appearance, I just wouldn't hold my breath for it, and if she does show up, I doubt it'll be much more than a cameo.

She does NOT have to leave EG. Why did Twilight go to human world in the second movie? Because there was a threat and human mane 5 plus Sunset needed her help. The best possible scenario would be for Sunset to decide to return to Equestria, help ponies deal with a HUGE danger, interact with Celestia (I'm so all over this) and return to human world because she realizes it became her home and humans need her. Aaaand it's done.

@@Mesme Rize, I don't think there was much of an argument about Sunset vs Starlight besides that one or two posts, this topic is supposed to be about Sunset's appearance in future movie after all.

One thing: from what I read of the sony e-mails, the idea of an alicorn villain plotline was Scratched because it was something that people brand new to the series would find confusing.


So, how much worse do you think Sunset shimmer, a character from a completely DIFFERENT pony series would confuse brand new people? Sad as it may be, the movie has to be aimed so that random idiots off the street won't be lost walking in, so they'll be shooting for as little continuity as possible in the movie. Sunset would require too much explanation (OH HEY! I come from a human paralell universe, used to be evil, but now I'm good, and I used to be celestia's Student and....) to put in without confusing newbies.


So cameo, like them doing a montage showing various characters from the pony universe at one point (like the end of DBZ where they cut to everyone from Dragon ball history powering up the spirit bomb)? Sure. In the movie proper? No.

While Sunset is most likely not going to appear in the movie, I would be happy if she were to receive a non speaking cameo in it. And that's the only way I can feasibly see her in the movie.
