Would you like guardians of harmony to be an alternate continuity?

So, here's a question: with the guardians of toyline, if they go through with giving it an animated series (even if its just movies), or an ongoing comic series, would you want it to be an alternate continuity or be still in Normal FIM canon?

basically, would you want it to be its own universe with its own rules and history, or would you want it to just be an addon to FIM's world? Like how EQG is turning into its own universe and canon that's seperate from FIM, or be more an extension of FIM?

I'd definitely be for it being separate in continuity. If this rumored series were to happen, it would be very thematically distinct from FiM, thus separating it from FiM in continuity affords a nice blank slate from which they can start with new ideas without worrying too much about destroying old ones.

GoH is too different, at least for me, to share the same continuity as the regular show. I'd much prefer it to be an alternate continuity.

I think so too. Also, GoH could serve as a last resort / clean slate if FiM somehow becomes unpopular.

I think it'd be best as an alternate continuity simply because it would let them experiment without endangering the mane canon line, yeah? let them do their own thing, try out stuff that's different from the normal continuity, and take some risks/chances, but not have to worry about hurting their golden goose: if the stuff they try in GOH turns out to be bad, then, hey, who cares, its another canon line, right? Just ignore it FIM's the same.

kind of like how I think they should try and take some risks with the EQG characters to differentiate them from the normal canon line and since there's not much danger of hurting FIM since its a different canon (like how they have dash wanting to make a rock band when she grows up in contrast to Wonderbolts in FIM, or how AJ seems to have more goals and hobbies than her FIM self)

A mostly slice of life show going bonkers with swords and horses riding dragons? Definitely alt continuity  :orly:

We've kind of got that kind of stuff going on in the comics though :P

Forcing it into an alternate continuity means they then can't bring it back into FIM proper. It is better to take a EQG approach and just never mention it in the mainline series.

Hell why not take a Nintendo approach and just use the some same characters, but move them to a faraway different location where it is less likely they'll ever need to reference any of the elements into the mainline series.

I totally wouldn't mind it being set in an Alternate continuity.

But then I'd want an FIM/EQG/GOH Crossover movie of some sort, where the three worlds all have to work together for some reason. I don't care how crazy that would be, I would NEED it.

I kind of wish the S5 finale had been like that;

I feel that celebrating the strength of friendship would have worked better if it had shown that, no matter what starlight did, she COULDN'T break the bonds the mane six had across time, and all the various alternate Timeline mane six's joined together with twilight to stop Starlight somehow.

To be honest, I don't even want to see a Guardians of Harmony animated series or spin off movies like EQG.

Well, we're at least getting comics: So what would you like the comics to be like, since there's absolutely no way for them to NOT occur? ;)

I’d like to take the alternate continuity where the comics about the alternate continuity are not being made by those IDW trigglypuffs. I mean, how are people like Silly Jeremy “Needs Lesbians” Whitely or Ted “Kill All Men” Anderson supposed to work on such an oppressive, misogynistic product?

It’s also funny cause a girl brand governed by people who are constantly yammering about the new age princesses and female empowerment now wants to intrude on the male side of the market. I’m not sure that is a particularly bright idea. The pony fad is over and they don’t have what it takes to compete with the established heavyweights. There is still time H-Bro. Call GG and go next or you’ll get rekt.

It will be in the MLP universe regardless, I can tell you that. However I think it wouldn't have a direct connection with FIM, at least initially. In other words, EQG-type continuity.

I wanna see what Marvel can do with this concept.

Oh yes. Some other companies could do wonders with such concept. But I’m afraid these Guardians of Harmony will be a lukewarm toy commercial at best or an ignored failure at worst. You need a stalwart figure at the helm of such a ship if you want it to sail, and Marvel definitely has one … or more. Who does H-Bro have? Jim? Haber? Megan? These guys are as excited about myth and magic as I am about dishwasher tablets, and IDW dregs are even worse.

yeah, i will admit that I find the current team to be INCREDIBLY lukewarm; Like, haber just doesn't seem to care and seems to have a "LOL KIDS SHOW, DON'T CARE" approach to the show, and then they go and hire a random no name off the streets for last weeks episode which should have warranted ALOT more effort for something so important...

I don't have much faith with the staff they currently have, but there's nothing saying that they might not have other people be put in charge of Guardians of harmony, or that we might not get some old staff coming back to work on GOH if they were to make it.
