Stupid stick because the plot called for it, moments?

What moments have you see like this, that just make you cringe?

There's many moments, I've seen, but the most noticable one is in Friendship Games, right after Sunset figures out SciTwi's pendant is stealing magic, and tells the girls, they compete in the relay/ archery/ motorcross competition, AJ is in direct contact, literally arms length of ST as she hugs her- AND DOESN'T STEAL THE PENDANT OFF HER NECK! Why?! It was right there!

And SCiTwi got hit with it, too. Deciding to release the stolen magic, with the idea in her fool head that she'll understand it....when did she understand it when it was was ripping portals in alternate dimension, the many times before she released it all? What did she understand then? Nothing, that's what.

A smaller stupid stick moment in FG is when SciTwi walked into CHS for the first time. NO ONE saw that she was wearing a CP uniform, and came to the conclusion that she wasn't pony Twi? HuMane 6 even bring it up, after seeing the school photo book of CP kids in their uniforms, and still don't register the fact. =_=; blind, much?

Noticable stupid stick moments in the EQG franchise, for you guys?

I guess that it makes sense, rather than trying to understand it, she broke under the peer pressure, I guess it's understandable to some degree.

That's stupid really, I can't find an explanation besides that maybe it's wrong to steal things? But it would be taken really too far when someone rips the reality with a thingie and you don't take it from them.

They'd be taking back what was rightfully theirs to begin with. That's not wrong.

Peer pressure is a piss poor excuse, when Sci Twi said early on that CrystalPrepers don't get excited about anything they don't acheive, themselves, way back during the spelling bee, long before Cinch put the heat on her. So releasing the magic under pressure wouldn't have made them happy, because they didn't do it, themselves.

Um... how about that's a really out of character thing for Applejack to do? I don't remember if they knew for sure that the pendant could drain magic yet, but even if they did Applejack would never just steal it from Twilight. The only reason she was even within arms reach of Twilight was she was sick of Twilight being berated by her teammate, and stepped up to help her, even though they were competing.

Also, Cinch blackmailed and threatened Twilight to release the magic. She was still dangling Twilight's application over her head, demanding she do what she says or she'll ruin Twilight. This Twilight seems to have very little self-esteem, so Cinch and the Shadowbolts all pressuring her to use the magic was more than enough for her to go through with it despite her protests.

Friendship Games was a narrative mess that was only saved by a few, 'oh this is nifty' moments ... if you eat the bland meal without adding a little spice of your own that is.

I'm spoiled because I read a lot, and have trained my mind to discount authorial intent quite a bit. I'm am easily able to cross media lines internally to flesh out my own approach to things unsaid. Oddly enough we all do this from a young age as we all use our imaginations and start to expand our knowledge of the world without taking in a rigid worldview that we have to protect. As we few older we devalue this skill.

This tendency to interpret flaws differently, or look past them, has actually served me well in making aquaintences and friends.

So what stops a person from conjuring an internal moment where a character laments not taking an alternative action?

If Applejack stole the pendant not only would it be theft and possibly assault, but she'd probably be disqualified, and possibly all of Canterlot High would have to forfeit the games.

so taking back something that belonged to you is theft? And SciTwi does it in front of two schools, and gets off scot free, no disqualification?

That makes perfect sense.

=_=

Nobody at Crystal Prep knew Magic was a thing. It would just look like they were stealing one of their students possessions. What would they say to Cinch? "You're prized student stole our magic!" ? It doesn't help that Twilight didn't know it was magic, either.

You're being rather irrational.
