Strange Cutiemarks

Dream Solstice

Recommended Posts

So, we all know that Cutiemarks are a symbol that represents a pony's talent/destiny, but what of those ponies who don't have such respectable talents/destinies? Like what if one day a colt got his cutiemark for like... being a murderer? Since the show is rather childish with would probably never come to play any sort of part in the story. Though thinking about a young pony getting a knife as a cutiemark would certainly raise some flags with other ponies.

Well, a cutie mark knife can be anything really. A culinary prodigy, swords-pony, blacksmith, or adventurer. Strange cutie marks do make an interesting depiction upon a pony and sometimes the marks don't truly explain one's talent/profession clearly. For example, Cheerilee has flowers for her cutie mark but she doesn't work as a florist or not even as a gardener, instead she is a lovely teacher who shares her joy to teach young fillies and colts.

@@Dream Solstice

Just letting you know that as this was dealing with the show or lore it has been moved to Show Discussion.

Thanks. :)

I have to agree with what the others are saying, and say that since the show is aimed at young girls, therefore I highly doubt you'll see anyone get murdered or even severely injured.

So no, no murder cutie marks!

im pretty sure being murderer cant be someones talent or destiny

I actually think the opposite XD

It'd be poor for society, but hey, we got villains in the show, so presumably someone's talent could be being a villain :P

Honestly though, There's no real "bad" talents, only bad ways to use it. For example, lets say somepony's talent was killing: There are actually MANY heroic ways for a person to use that, General, monster slayer, ect.

A pony wouldn't have a talent for "being a serial killer"-- that's what you DO with your talent, not what your talent is. They could become a morally good assasin, a spy (staying hidden), or a number of other things, as there talents would most likely revolve around disposing of others and not being caught: and while MLP doesn't touch on it, there are still many evil beings in the world of FIM who need to be opposed, and sometimes, yes, killed.

lets take an example of a character having the talent for creating Fire: they could be a pyromaniac, destroying everything in front of them. OR they could be a Fire mage that fights monsters, they could be someone who works in incinerating waste materials, they could be someone who works at a steam powered factory, ect.

Lets not think of WHAT they've ended up as, but rather what skills they have that lead them to what they were: Diamond tiara is a great example of how a talent can be used for BOTH good and evil.

Pony Symbols don't always match up to their name/appearance/talent.

Maybe because Cheerilee helps young minds "bloom."

Cheerilee is secretly supposed to be a gardener and is in fact a crappy teacher: She just didn't want to have to get dirty everyday working in the dirt.
