Luna's Future [Orchestral Cover]

Ok.

Perhaps the biggest thing here is that your instruments don't have enough power, especially your brass. Maybe use a more aggressive low-end brass sample to give the piece some bulk. The aggressive brass along with harder accented upper arpeggiated arco strings would give the piece more power. A timpani would work for some fill-ins as well. I suggest looking into Garritan for nice and big aggressive brass. I wouldn't have the snare repeating the same patterns. Some chimes would work here too.

Some reverb on the vocals would give the piece more atmosphere.

All in all, it's a decent remix, but it just lacks in power and delivery. I'm here if you need any help in understanding what I said in my critique.

I updated this a little bit and added some new brass instruments, and also added CineBrass' low brass pads to give it more bass. I also changed the snare, though it's still too repetitive. More reverb has been added to everything too.

I may work on this more in the future.

Your brass is way better the last one. Those pads and new samples really helped beef up the piece. All that's left to do is work on that percussion a bit. Give the piece a nice and solid timpani and it will surely shine. Also, up the accents on those strings a little more.

(edited)

I decided to remove the original intro and create my own. I can't find an acapella version of the ponies chatting, so I left that part out.

I added my signature piano work that I seem to put into everything, and also added some harp. I added various tweaks to the reverb and fades. Re-recorded all of the strings. Uh.. I forget what else I did, but I did a bunch of "stuff".

I may add timpani and other drums later, but right now I'm spent on this mix. It went from 6 hours of work to 15 hours of work.

Edit : I added timpani.

I like the new intro. Add a little more reverb on those rolling crescendo drums. Those chimes are really spectacular. I like your strings now. They're accented to the perfect value

Your piano work is decent. I would hang in the lower part of the piano, with only a few back to back repeating notes.

To top it finally, some soft upper vocals running on the sound "ooh" would really give this piece that atmospheric wintery sound. That's really all the piece is missing.

I added choir. I don't know how noticeable it'll be.

I'm done working on this for now. No more updates.

The Youtube copy has not been updated. The other links have.

That choir really brought it home! The choir running on "ah" actually brings it out more than if it were running on "ooh". Good choice there.
