It's possible that the real Pinkie Pie was taken out and that the one that won the contest and the one in a trench coat are clones

I knew it, since It's about Time

Pinkie's "are we here for fun?" Line, folllwed by Twilight's disagreement, and Pinkie's reaction to said disagreement made it clear that doubly miror pool'd mares are still present

It's about time is a season two episode. Too many Pinkie Pie's is season 3. I mean, I guess you could argue It's about Time comes after TMPP, but I'm not sure why you would.

Anyway, it might not be a clone. Could be a Changeling. It could also be Human Pinkie from the EQG universe exploring around Equestria because why not?

Don't you know Pinkie's from the future and can time travel?

I think you're giving her "Cartoon Physics" abilities a bit too much credit here, I doubt that.

Fun headcanon/theory though. :P  Maybe it's a neverending cycle, going back in time to get cloned and then the clone does the same to get cloned so the clone does the same to get cloned so the clone does the same to get cloned. Maybe it's a different Pinkie every single episode.

I think this pretty much cements that they are not mindless clones but sapient, thinking beings that want to survive. This Clone survived what was basically a massacre of her people. There are a lot of dark undertones here when you think about it.

Dark humor and ascended fridge horror. Its probably going to fly over the kids heads, but I was ROLLING when that happened XD

Yeah. Despite her using it for jokes, I don't think pinkie ACTUALLY has the ability to alter reality, everything is just a quick visual joke for the fans.

Though, it'd be funny if there were to give her that kind of power were they to do another power ponies/Do princesses dream of magic sheep episode.

So, here's a question based on today's episode:

How many pinkie clones do you think survived their destruction at twilight's hands and what's your headcanon about them? :P

This might be a little out there, but I believe that there were two Pinkie clones in this episode,

There's the obvious Pinkie clone the one in the Fedora. How ever dose anyone recal the ponies in the dance club one had a uncanny resemblance to a certain pink party pony.

The mane body and eye color are all a exact match to Pinkies. Perhaps a clone changed it's identity and tried to blind into the population of Manehattan?

I want to believe this too, and think that Manehattan actually has a small group of Pinkie clone escapees living together; but that pony has a different cutie mark than pinkie pie (glowsticks)

It's possible that a Pinkie clone could cover up a cutie mark using makeup. Starlight Glimmer was able to deceive a entire village, by covering up her cutie mark. It's not out out of the realm of possibility. If a clone wanted to change it's identity, a cutie mark would be a dead give away.

It would at least explain why the Dancer has such a glum expression as she's looking at pinkie there despite dancing; Like she suddenly saw the regular pinkie but is trying to keep dancing to avoid blowing her cover and hoping the read pinkie leaves
