To be clear they aren't trying to keep the existence of magic a secret, no?

I'm trying to believe that Cinch trying to convince the school board about the disastrous events of the games is not tied into the existence of magic.

They can't possibly try and keep that shit secret.

They transformed right in front of flim and flam in a shop in town, and the only response they got was "Wear a banana suit". The people in town just do not give a crap.

Heck, they shot up a giant Pillar of light like it was third impact or something at the end of EQG 1 that could be seen halfway across town by the dazzles.

Apparently the only people that care about how the magic works besides Sunset Shimmer and the high 5 are Sci Twi and Principle Cinch.

After Sunset became a demon and used mind control magic on the students of Canterlot High, the Sirens also mind controlling them, as well as nearly dying due to the rifts in reality after Sci Twi turned into a demon, I am pretty sure that the Students of CHS are justified in not wanting to deal with magic.

OK, both Principal Celly and Vice-Principal Luna are WELL aware of the magic, AND, seems the girls will be using magic to save the Everfree camp . I dunno how the government hasn't been involved yet, they got basically magical bio-weapons in their backyard :dash:

I'm going on a limb and saying this is a case of the trope "Adults are oblivious". The students of both schools know full well that magic exists, but any adults would wave away the footage they've seen online as edited or fake and if any of their kids try and tell them, they'll just assume they're making it up. Thus, if Cinch went before a board of stuffy adults who wouldn't believe in magic unless they were turned into rabbits and pulled out of a hat, she'd be seen as crazy in ten seconds flat.

Realistically, eventually they'll reach a point where they couldn't possibly keep in under wraps, but I doubt that will ever happen in the movies.

I dunno maybe Starswirl joined the City Council to ensure that his magical dumping ground wouldn't cause problems for either world?
