We've speculated on whether or not Sunset Shimmer would be an alicorn upon returning to Equestria based on different merits and observations.

 

But what of human Twilight Sparkle, also know affectionately as Sci-Twi?

 

"Pish posh, silly Pirate Pony," says Devil Rarity. "Twilight is indeed an alicorn in Equestria so her two-legged friend would be the same!"

 

"Just a moment," says her Hay-loed twin. "Our Twilight earned her princess status and alicorn transformation through caring for her friends, learning the magic of friendship and completing Starswirl's spell! Human Twilight did none of those things. Therefore, she would be, dare I say: just a unicorn!"

 

What do you think? Which fictional argument in my head is correct and why...or is there some other option?

I'd wager that she'd turn out to be a unicorn rather than an alicorn, for the reason that you listed; she wasn't born an alicorn; Pony Twi had to earn that through hard work, while Human Twi never went through those same experiences.

I have a weird idea. What if she comes through as something completely other? Like an Earth pony... or a gryphon! Exactly what are the rules for the transition? Technically, we've only seen six entities move between universes, Twilight, Sunset, Spike, and the Sirens. And Spike came through as a dog while everyone else showed up as teenage girls. The consistency ... isn't.

Unicorn. Twilight was originally a unicorn before and after she discovered friendship, and it was only thanks to Starswirl's spell that she ascended. Thus, Sci-Twi would still be a unicorn.

Twilight and Sunset both possess wings now; therefore they should have wings upon crossing over as well.

She'd look very identical to Princess Twilight, except with the bun in her hair and the glasses, and no wings. That way, we'd have both an Alicorn Twilight and a Unicorn Twilight, and there wouldn't be much confusion between the two.

I would like to think that Sci Twi would be a regular unicorn instead of an alicorn if she were to go through the portal.

Unless something major happens during the ending to Legend of the Everfee where she turns into a human alicorn or whatever Sunset did during Friendship Games and My Past is Not Today.

Toyline gives her wings for some reason, but I agree that she would be a unicorn. That said, having someone who only just learned about Equestria's existence suddenly have alicorn powers would be interesting, to say the least.

There is nothing to say Sci-Twi wouldn't be an Alicorn if she came through but at the same time theres nothing to say she wouldn't be a regular Earth Pony either - It is the same with the rest of the Equestria girls...EG Applejack could be a Pegasus and Fluttershy could be a Princess.

I guess now that somehow Sci Twi would be an alicorn due to the wings in her crystal power up and regular transformations. Which I kinda find weird, I feel Sunset would have been a better choice for the human world alicorn powers.
