Plageius

Recommended Posts

Anything about George Lucas's [and now Disney's] space opera series should be posted here!

So, to kick things off, do you guys think Snoke could be Darth Plageius? I think he could be, but he may also be someone completely different as I see on one hand how him being Plageius would completely null all complaints about there being little mention or use of Prequel story assets, however I can also see Disney wanting to make him a new villain for a new generation.

The only way he could be Plagueis is via Dark Empire–esque cloning.

And since Disney already retconned Palpatine's version away, I don't see that happening.

You have to remember that Palpatine in ROTS said that he had the ability to cheat death. And, since him being Muun is no longer canon, I don't really see a reason why it couldn't be him. Snoke doesn't exactly look that youthful, after all.

Oh my, this thread is dangerous for me.

First of all, many people making the movies including Keeper of the Canon Pablo Hidalgo and actor Andy Serkis have already said Plagueis and Snoke are two different characters.

Since when has Pablo Hidalgo said that they're seperate?

On another note, was I the only one disappointed when Luke lost his cool new cloak in the Rancor Pit? Such a waste, IMO.

I even had an action figure of him in it:

Well, I imagine that it would be a lot harder to fight off all of Jabba's henchmen wearing that cloak, and besides, it probably just would have fallen into the Sarlaac.

One interesting theory I've heard is that Snoke is Ezra Bridger all grown up and gone to the Dark Side. I love that idea and frankly hope it's true. It would make both characters more interesting.

I'l bet all the skiff guards who fell into the Sarlacc would be fighting over it though. Any extra insulation down there would be nice.

By the way, Are there any Star Wars collectors here?  :o

Am I the only one who thinks TCW got cancelled too soon? I was looking at some demo reel of cut story arcs earlier and it made me really sad to see stuff like that get canned. I understand why they did it since editing the contract with CN probably would have probably have been a pain in the glutues medius, but it was really starting to tie in well with ROTS.

They made another season for Netflix, in case you didn't know. They wrapped up a few things that needed addressing.

I really hope Snoke is a new character, rather than an old character coming back. However, out of all the theories, the Darth Plageius one I think is the best. I also like the Ezra theory @@Dreambiscuit mentioned.

What do you guys think about Rey? Even though I think it is extremely unlikely, I love the Rey Kenobi theory. I think the Rey Skywalker theory makes most sense, but I actually really hope it's not true.

I just don't see how they would explain her being a Kenobi. It seems doubtful that they'd pull a "long lost lover from Tatooine" card. Honestly, I think she's going to end up being another chosen one. I used to believe the Skywalker theory but then I realized that they probably want to make a new lineage for a new generation of Star Wars fans.

Yea, I never said the Kenobi theory was actually realistic, I just love the idea. And also, the theory isn't quite as weak as you would think. Obi Wan had a lover in the clone wars series, but because Obi Wan was more loyal to the Jedi code than Anakin, as well as some other things, they never had the chance to become a real couple and ended up spending a lot of time apart. The theory is that he knocked her up, and in the time they were apart, she had a child before she died in the Clone Wars, but never told him about it because she knew it would be a big struggle for him because of his loyalty to the jedi way. Now, this child wouldn't be Rey. It would be Lor San Tekka (the old guy at the beginning of The Force Awakens). His age most likely puts his birth sometime in the middle of the Clone Wars. In this theory, Rey would HIS daughter. The real flaw in the theory is that there would be a big plot hole because he is on Jakku, and Rey is "waiting" for her family on Jakku. The theory is strong that Lor San Tekka is related to Obi Wan, but once you throw Rey in, that's where it falters. Not a good enough theory to be a real contender, but I just like the idea of Obi Wan's legacy being carried on in the main series.

I don't think they would ditch the Skywalker family. The whole story is supposed to follow that family. However, Kylo Ren is technically a Skywalker, so I don't like the idea of Rey being one too.

I think the Kenobi lineage idea is interesting. But Obi Wan made it pretty clear in TCW that he never broke his Jedi oath. But if he had done so, Lor San Tekka being the offspring of that relationship or another unlikely romance is a cool idea, but I think he was too old to be Obi Wan's offspring. At best he would only be in his mid 50s. In any case, as you say, Rey wouldn't factor in.

The Skywalker legacy is clearly where they're taking things with Rey. The saga is supposed to be about following generations of these main characters, and while Abrams and Disney discard anything they want without regard for the original concept, I don't think they'll drop the Skywalker name from the story just to create a new generation of characters for a new generation of fans. There are still lots of older generations as well and they all want the Skywalker name to live on. I think the idea of Kylo Ren being a Solo, and Rey being a Skywalker, with both fighting head-to-head, is just the kind of thing Abrams would think is clever storytelling, whether it is or not. My money's on Rey being a Skywalker.

It's nice that they're bringing back Thrawn.

I can't wait to see the early years of Thrawn!!! I'd love to know more about his backstory. Now the big question is, can they tell it artistically?

I collect mostly lightsabers and blasters, though I do have a few 3.75" Hasbro figures laying around.

Season 3 of Rebels is about to be so artistically done:

This season is gonna be amazing! Thrawn, OT Y-Wings, Rahm Kota Kanan, Wedge Antilles! There's so much world building going on, and it looks like Sabine got her jetpack! YES! :D I also LOVE her hair. She looks really cute with that style.

Holy sheet! Thrawn, the best villain of the Expanded Universe is back! *Fangasm*

Oh yeah! I freaked out when I saw that! I wasn't sure they would bring him back. I like that Disney is slowly bringing back SOME of the legends stuff. They haven't completely thrown it away.

Lightsabers and blasters are so cool. I have a few but not the really fancy ones from more recent years; just the older off-the-shelf stuff and lots of vintage. I have tons of the 3.75" figures too, around 1,500 or so. Collecting is like an obsession and has been my whole life.

The preview for this coming season looks like a dream come true! When the first thing you hear is the name "Ashoka!" you know we're in for something good. Other than that, she's interestingly absent from the preview. The way they ended last season I'm sure we have some serious stuff going on with her.

And Sabine's new hair and jetpack! Yes! Finally she's all equipped and ready to rock, and with a new hairstyle. I'm glad they're giving her the new hair for the new season, as they have with each season so far, and so many new looks for the others as well. Things are heating up, and throwing our favorite Grand Admiral into the mix is going to give the Rebels a serious contender to deal with.

I love that we're seeing more of the classic trilogy characters and an upswing in EU/SW Legends stuff. There are so many riches to be found there!
