well mlp:fim is beginning to decline in popularity, so therefore there will be less news about it. and really, i think eqd should end at some point. their most recent articles show how desperate they are to keep this site alive.

It's the same on the Show Discussion and episode threads here as well. The topics do not generate as much interest and discussion as they did before. Naturally, waning interest in the show from some of the more prominent fans is part of it. However, many of this season's episodes have been really safe and haven't generated a lot of talking points. Thus, we get ad nauseum threads about shipping, male characters, and other barely-relevant trivia. It's probably only marginally better there, only the barely-relevant trivia is different and probably includes Trixie love.

It's mostly in the 2000s.

Mind you that neither EqD, FiM, nor this fandom existed until at least 2010. It hit its peak in 2012. Edited by Wind Chaser

The show needs more fans.

i dont know what you talking about  there are still daily news about ponies and stuff and i dont think that the amount of news really describes the popularity of something,  im seeing the MLP has growing numbers of interest and  it is going very well for all areas as far as i see .

I think the issue here is that people cant really see the fandom as a whole and it is why they are thinking that the show is losing fans and there arent as much news  or stuff like that or maybe the equestria daily  writers are just more busy with other things and cant update the site so much

What do you mean? All of their news are pony-related on one way or another!  :o  (Ok, sometimes they actually post news about Them's Fightin' Herds, which technically isn't MLP, but... It's still within the brony fandom!)

Is it that they focus less on the show and more on the fandom and merchandise?

I'm just saying is they aren't updating much. It's kind of slow.

From what I've seen there is still lots of fanmade stuff being featured there (some of which were made by me, not to brag :) ) and still plenty of episode discussion going on. A lot of it also seems to be merchandise-focused too, dealing with toys, ccg updates and the like.

Honestly I had no idea the site was dying before you brought this up.

While there is a possibility that what you said is true, there is another way to explain it: projection.

Sometimes, our mind plays a little trick on us in which the way we think affects how we perceive others to think. For instance, sometimes when your interest in something grows, you might notice others who are also becoming increasingly interested in that subject. On the other hand, if your interest in something is waning, you'll start to notice scenarios in which people show signs of waning interest in that subject as well.

While the Brony fandom may not seem to be an alien phenomenom anymore (due to half a decade of existence), and that the heat seemed to have cooled down, it doesn't necessarily mean the fandom is dying.

What we're seeing here could be some sort of combination of the two; prolonged exposure to this previously apparently bizarre idea of male adults watching cartoon show aimed at a young female audience has desensitized its novelty.

This is especially the case in media sites, what is posted right now would have been quite interesting several years ago, back when the Brony phenomenom is still a new and strange topic to the masses, but now most of us have gotten used to it, so its relevant discussions would seem less interesting than they were before.
