Which pony might be a Changeling?

This question is sort of dumb but with the whole cameo of a Changeling at the end of the 2 part season opener I thought that they may have some slight role in the season by one of the ponies we know truly being a Changeling.

It could really anyone but who do you think is at least the most possible?  Really do think hard and collect things we know about Changelings and see how it may incorporate into a certain character.  I know there is most likely not a character that's been Changeling is disguise but I just want to hear what you think.

Who do you think has the highest probability to be a changeling and why?

In order of likihood: Celestia, the Pinkie 'clone', Vinyl, possibly Luna, and also possibly Bon Bon ...

None, not in the show at least.  That said, it is an idea that I like to see people playing around with in fanfiction.  If one of the main cast or a major supporting character had been replaced in the season opener, I think they would have given us a bit more of a hint that that was the case.  Plus if they replaced someone like Celestia, that would mean they pretty much couldn't do the long-overdue Celestia episode (which will hopefully come at some point this season) because there'd be no point in doing so if the Celestia focused on was a Changeling, unless it was about her escaping their clutches.

Now there's certainly a possibility that that second Pinkie Pie seen in last week's episode wasn't a Pinkie clone, but rather a Changeling, which could be hinting at their return in the season finale, similar to how Starlight kept having cameos last season in the build up to the finale.  I certainly won't be surprised if the Changelings finally make their return at the end of the season.  But I don't think they've replaced any of the main or major supporting cast at this point.

That's just... Weird to think about. I sure hope the changeling isn't among the ponies in town, because that'd be... Too much. I don't want anypony to be a changeling unless they're planning on reforming a changeling to a good character or something... But if they do, it BETTER be good. To make Chrysalis return would just be boring, old and unoriginal to me. She's cool and all, but what more is there to her?

I don't think Kevin was impersonating any of the ponies in town.

As for if any pony were a changeling...  I think Tirek's magic devouring would expose changelings that were in the main areas.  When he went around sucking out all of the pony magic, either the changelings hidden among them would be exposed or exempted(which would in itself expose the changeling).

He was just there for the food. :D

Then again... The whole Tirek mess happened like 2 seasons ago (and probably two years in the show timeline?) We don't know what the changelings have been up to since then. ;)

Celestia's out of character demeanor that some complained about in No Second Prances could be interpreted as a hint.

Or as a set-up for the finale.

but what more is there to her?

There are options that they could explore. The comics and fandom have done a decent job at hypothesizing a deeper backstory and motivations. Considering that our only frame of reference to her was monologuing her plan, surprise at her power, and gloating ... there is still a wide open world. It is usually fully developed characters that you normally should ask, "what more is there to them?" It certainly should never apply to an underused character.

While it made a lot more sense to me as a season a year, they have shown that the pilot through 4/1 was a year and it seems we have done about half a year so far since.

I think the writers have just been playing around with different types of humor for her this season (and Luna too).  They were completely in character in Gauntlet of Fire (and let's not forget that Chrysalis displayed A LOT of out of character behavior as Cadance which only flew by most ponies because they chalked it up to wedding-prep pressure), but even there they gave Twilight a sarcastic look when she started nerding out.

I kinda hope the Pinkie clone isn't a Changeling. I'm not against the idea but think about it, why would a Changeling disguise itself as one of the most well known ponies in Equestria? Especially when the original is still running around. There's too great a chance of exposure if you ask me.

Twilight Sparkle is a changeling, a willing servant put in place by Celestia when Twilight was destroyed during the finale of season 3.

This is why the Elements of Harmony had to be replaced by Rainbow Power, as the Elements of Harmony could no longer function without Twilight.  Princess Celestia put into motion a plan to get the mane six to sacrifice their Elements back to the Tree of Harmony to get a power they can use to protect Equestria once again.

Princess Celestia gets the changeling to behave by offering land to Chrysalis on the borders of Equestria.  A case of the lesser of two evils.

-------------

Alternatively, Chrysalis' plan during the Canterlot Wedding was all a ruse to, playing all the princesses in the sole purpose of getting a fellow changeling queen to hide as Cadance.  Thus the real Cadance is somewhere in Chrysalis' hive while the as-to-be-revealed false Cadance is playing her role to the tee.  This is why Flurry Heart is unheard of before to Celestia and Luna, being an alicorn foal with oversized wings and all that, as she is really a changeling princess who hasn't quite mastered her disguise being a baby.

Ohhhh boy, my overly analytical mindset has returned! :yay:

To start things off, the way I interpret this question is: any character that could be a changeling in disguise had to have been captured (or something similar) at the end of the season 6 premier.

If the changelings are indeed coming back, we should probably be looking back at the season 2 finale to get some clues. The first ponies that come to my mind are Lyra Heartstrings, Colgate/Minuette, and Twinkleshine. Remember that they served as fake Cadence's bridesmaids (and had been temporarily mind controlled as well). Coinciding with this fact, Colgate/Minuette and Twinkleshine also had their time in the limelight not too long ago in Amending Fences (with Lyra getting her name mentioned as well). I wouldn't be surprised if ol' Chrissy decided to try that again on them.

My next guess would have to be Sunburst. Something tells me with his character being properly introduced at the BEGINNING of the season, it would only make sense to see him return at the END as well. Being the crystaller to the new alicorn princess would make him a prime target for Chrysalis, which would then set up opportunities to get closer to and/or blackmail the other princesses and Mane 6.

Twilight and Shining's parents could also be ponies of interest for this theory. Similar to Sunburst, they could be used as modes of reconnaissance, and to manipulate Twilight and Shining (because who can say no to their parents??).

As for the Pinkie clone, I can see that as a definite possibility as well. Probably not my favorite theory, but it DOES seem to be the one that makes the most sense.

...I probably put TOO much thought into this one...
