Guy with a plushie - reactions/thoughts?

Recommended Posts

(edited)

Whilst my initial reaction, "Okay then...." I think he has guts to take out a giant Pinkie Pie plush, while I'd never do that, I think it's good he stands out. I mean I got bullied just for using a MLP bag for my school bag, I feel sorry for this guy, he must have a ton of hate his way.

Hey, I'd love a plushie personally. I'd like a whole collection of the mane six and more!

That said, I'd probably never carry them around and cuddle them in public like that, that'd get me some strange looks. Nothing against this guy for doing it though, who knows what his reasons are? Even if he's doing it just cause he can, doesn't change my opinion. He's not hurting anyone by doing it, and if he's fine with some uptight people judging him for it, I'd say let him carry it around.

The problem and sad reality is, 99% of the internet doesn't think like you, my friend.

Since he is above the age of 5, I find it really weird.

Seriously? SERIOUSLY?? Please tell me you are kidding. You watch a show called MY LITTLE PONY, and we in this fandom try to show people how this show is not just some show for little kids and you say this about the guy? Really?

You know what I think about this guy? Right on! it is a cute plushie and he likes it, so embrace it! It could be a thing of comfort for him or he just likes the plushie, so he should be fully allowed to have it with him if he wants. I am not religious, in fact I don't like religion much, but I don't go around hating people because they have a crucifix as a necklace, which I shall remind you, that is a symbol of a guy being nailed to wood as he dies. I am pretty sure I could look at that person and tell him how 'weird' that is, but I don't and I won't/

Frankly if he wants to bring the plush with him, by all means. However, there is going to be some oddball looks and plenty of hateful comments. Personally, I don't think I would ever do that, but it doesn't seem like he really cares either way.

It is a show for little kids, you can't deny that.

Also, it's not like I'd bully him because of it or anything like that. I just find it really weird for adults/teenagers to walk around in public with a plushie, in the same way other people might find it really weird for people to walk around with their underpants on their head.

Maybe not, and they can think whatever they want, but that's more their problem than anyone else's. I think it's a waste of time to judge a guy for carrying a plushie around. I think it's a general waste of time to judge people for most things, unless it seems like what they're doing could actually be harmful. If people want to judge you anyway, they'll find a reason.

I used to get called names for wearing a Sonic shirt back in high school. Nobody ever asked why I wore it, or liked the series. They just made dumb assumptions about me because of a shirt and possible interest. If I didn't wear it they'd just judge me for long hair, or my freckles, or something. Quickly made me realize how ridiculous it all was.

Life would be boring if we all just acted the same anyway.

o_o You are seriously comparing walking around with underwear on your head with a guy who has a plushie with him? Wow. That's....something.

And no, this show IS NOT 'for little kids', this show is FAMILY FRIENDLY. There is a difference. It is a show that ANYONE at ANY AGE can enjoy, not just little kids. I find it hilarious when bronies say this kind of stuff but then wonder why the internet hates us so much. A person in this very fandom cannot have a plushie with him in public and can't go without be called weird by others in the same friggin' fandom. Love and tolerate, yeah right.

Again, it is just a plushie. What is the problem? Like I said above, I could EASILY call someone out for having a necklace of some guy getting tortured on some wood, but I don't.

Yes. I happen to find it to be equally weird. If you disagree with that, that's fine.

I don't wonder why the internet hates us so much. I've made several post in the past explaining why other people might hate us. Also, how on earth is this relevant?

I wouldn't tell him that I thought he was weird.

It is relevant because saying how much you find THIS particular thing weird justifies the hatred others have, because they find US weird for liking this show. There is no difference.

And okay, you wouldn't flat out tell him you thought he was weird, but you WOULD apparently be judging him in silence. "Ooooh, look how weird that guy is, he has a plushie with him.' WOWEE, what a big deal.

Well, he is a grown man and he obviously can make the decision for himself.

But he should know that it always will be a risky business. I mean, yeah, i wear pony shirts in public (though, it's not that comparable) but i know that people got ridiculed for that alone.

I myself wouldn't mind, as long as the guy himself is okay. But again, it's kinda risky.

How does this justifie the hate other people have? I mean, there are countless other things that does but this isn't one of them.

The only one making this a bid deal is you. I would stop caring after a second or two.

To be fair, I find both to  be equally wierd.

Well, obviously everyone can enjoy the show. But it's still a show created for little kids. That doesn't mean that there's anything wrong with liking it even if you're not a little kid.

I hang with several so called "anti-bronies" and let me tell you that it's not because of people like Yamet that they hate this fandom.

Love and tolerate, yeah right.
You do know that it's just a meme right? Nobody takes that stuff seriously.

I notice one thing about this - The lady to the left does not seem to care he has a pink Plushie, The big guy to the Right does not seem to care a Guy has a Huge Pony Plush and you know why? Because they, Like the man in the middle have accepted what he likes and do not need to make him feel bad about what he likes because in the end it doesn't effect them nor does it hurt anyone.

In fact far play to him for taking a huge Pinkie Pie Plush out and about :)

I'm gonna put in my two cents here..

It's weird. The guy can do whatever he wants and having the plushie in public isn't hurting anyone, but it's strange having it out at an inappropriate time. It looks like these people are in the middle of class or something, right? How would you react if someone had a HUMONGOUS (insert cartoon here) plushie during the middle of class for absolutely no reason? It's not weird because it's a pony plushie, it's weird because it's a giant plushie that this guy randomly has with him at an inappropriate time and setting. Why does he have it with him anyway? Please don't tell me he wants to show off his "brony pride", because fans should really stop shoving the show down peoples' throats. The reaction from society is understandable, in my opinion. This can apply to any kind of plushie, not just ponies. If I saw a person with a huge SpongeBob plushie in the middle of class (just an example), I'd be confused too. I do believe that the guy has guts for having a pony plushie in public, but it's pretty strange to have it out at such a random time. I'm not saying he can't have it out, I'm just saying that you guys shouldn't be surprised that he's getting a confused reaction from people. And if he doesn't care about what other people think, good for him.

I really don't want anyone getting mad at me for thinking this, it's only my opinion. I'm not saying it's bad at all. Hell, I'm totally fine with it and I like it because I like Pinkie Pie! I'm just saying that people shouldn't be surprised when others are sharing this around on the internet.

What does it matter if this guy has an MLP plushie?  If he likes it, then let him buy the stuff.  I agree with Kyoshi, it shouldn't matter if he has that.  The media these days only care about shooting and fighting, and it's good to step out of the norm.  I say let him go, he's not hurting anyone with that plushie, is he?

This guy has some guts to stick out. What's your take on this image?

Bear in mind that a motherload of hate has been spewed all over this image on Buzzfeed, Cheezburger, Reddit, and multiple cringe websites (stay away from 'em :unamused:  )

He's probably getting a ton of hate for it but its not the first time I've seen this and it won't be the last I'm sure.

I honestly don't see the problem. They look like they are either in a meeting or in a college aged classroom. Do the other's seem to be distracted by it? No, it only seems like the person taking the picture is the only one distracted by it. Who know's why he has it, maybe it is a gift for someone and he doesn't want it to be on the ground or somewhere that it can be a distraction. It is clearly too big to fit in his backpack.

Let him be, maybe he has an issue being in a public setting and it helps him calm down and be able to focus.

We should all take our plushies and go out in public and take a pic in support of him!

I will soon as my plush gets here! Hopefully within a few hours! :squee:

"I'm going to bring my pony plush and see what happens?" was this guy's initial though. He's got guts but what about the people around him? Does he not care about what they make of him and how they feel about distractions.

They're probably more uncomfortable than him to be honest.

I must confess I find it to be a bit weird to be going around with a plushie like that (I would not do so myself, because I am not risking to get a public reaction to it). But I find the public reaction about it to be equally weird. Why even bother giving this attention and hate on it. It's just some (random) guy with a plushie. Sure it is really weird, but to make the effort to really go about saying anything negative about it is equally weird :T.
