AlbaTross 1,508
So, just to be clear, they're doing exactly what many modern movies based on long established franchises do and going with the exact same name as the 1980s movie? I guess in this case that's not really a problem since there's absolutely no reason to talk about that other film IMHO, but I would have preferred if it had some indication in the name that it's set in the FiM universe. Otherwise, I think the logo is just fine...
Babyyoshi309 1,829
Wow, we've just realized that Hasbro isn't targeting specifically to Bronies but rather to it's original intended audience. Looks good and I'm glad they're rolling out the hype slowly. @Midnight Glow That would be really stupid since a majority of the people who are going to watch the movie are bronies. Also, other than the heart in the o there is not really any evidence for your theory.

TheAnimatorOfficial 565
Nobody's going to care about the title. The 1986 movie isn't a widely known classic like Ghostbusters or RoboCop are. It's not even close to coming across as a remake.
Babyyoshi309 1,829
Had Bronies outnumbered the amount of little girls that are originally intended for the show and movie? @Midnight Glow *Has? Though yes, bronies have definitely outnumbered the amount of little girls watching the show. At least 76% of the people who watch the show are older than 13 (there is probably more, I just could not find a exact percent from a reliable source, so I went with that just to be safe). If you want a more exact statistic, 47% of the people who watch the show are over 20 years old. Considering how many bronies are teenagers, I can guarantee that bronies far outnumber the little girls who watch the show. Chuckles4lyfe 440
I like the logo. It's simple and clean (Kingdom Hearts reference totally not planned there btw ). The generic title somehow makes it more marketable to a wider audience. Either way, i'm still very excited for the movie and can't wait to see it next year . Batbrony 15,953
I know we've know it's been happening for a while now (heck, we've been getting casting news and a release date prior to this), but still, this is pretty awesome. The MLP Movie is currently trending on Facebook, and it's surreal to see that as well as the names of all the celebs who will be showing up in some capacity in the movie alongside our lovely leading ladies. I cannot wait, and it's awesome to think that we're only 15 months away from an actual, proper MLP Movie release for MLP: FiM in theaters!!! PiratePony 8,438
a majority of the people who are going to watch the movie are bronies. A majority? That's a stretch if I've ever heard one. I guarantee you that when you go into the theatre it's mostly going to be kids and their parents. The target demographic is still the reason that the show is produced and gets made. It's who the merchandise is produced for, and it's the parents of those kids who are in the aisles of Toys R Us and CVS buying them.

I guess that is true, despite there being more bronies who watch the show than little girls, a very small percent of them will actually be able to go to the theater and watch the movie. Unlikeable Pony 2,692
Well, I'm a bit sad that they are just going with the title of "MLP: the movie". I was hoping for a more epic name like guardians of harmony or something as a tag I also have to point out the Twilight Sparkle mane color on top of the logo, securing her place as the main character in the film as well. Probably....hopefully. I had been slightly worried they were gonna make the Mane 6 second fiddles. Twilight second fiddle? Never. The mane six as a group? hell yeah The last 2 two parters have basically had the other 5 as cameos, so I wouldn't be surprised if it had Twilight going on a duo adventure with a new guest character like how she and starlight were the sole mane characters of the S5 finale. Nightfall Gloam 17,904
http://www.movieposter.com/posters/archive/main/74/MPW-37128 Looking at this image has made me realise how much I really want to see an official poster for the 2017 movie. Also, I think I kind of like the logo of the upcoming movie. Nice and sparkly, and seems to have Twilight Sparkle themed colours... Almost anyway.

Unlikeable Pony 2,692
There are more hearts in the logo than expected -_- Yeah... I kind of wish they'd dial back the hearts they slather this series in. If you're about to try and market the series to young boys with the GOH toyline, you probably want to ease up a bit on stuff like the heart's everywhere

Jeric 46,747
Need an updated title? Just apply chrome! Rarity and Spike would probably prefer a few extra gems though. It works, and calling it "The Movie" is more of a marketing call ... a smart one actually. If they make sequels then you will have subtitles.

SolyWack 481
This logo has more lens flares than Eiffel 65's Blue music video. Equestria Girls's design team added a horse shoe at least, but this ones, they were just like: Hasbro Executive: So guys we need that logo for the movie done. Design Guy 1: The Wh...? Oh, the logo, What do you think? Design Guy 2: Hmmm, What about a...a horseshoe? Design Guy 1: Nah, we can't just copy the EQG guys. Hmmm Design Guy 2: Lets see here. Design Guy 1: We have to reach into the deepest part of our creative instinct. That's why we got hired here right? Design Guy 2: You're Right...Hmmm...I got it! Lens Flares! Hasbro Executive: F**cking Genius, get it done. Design Guy 1: Okay, how many different styles? Hasbro Executive: You think we got time for that, Bob? We only have like a year and half, just use the same 1 lens flare. Bob: Okay, how many? Like two or three? Hasbro Executive: All of them Edited July 29, 2016 by SolyWack
Choros Isorropai 409
just a thought... if they named the movie, whatever the name, us fans would come to conclusions about the film... and if its to target all demographics then it would be damaging to some of them (potentialy). because "we" would get expectations, and from the posts ive been reading... the fans are little upset with some of the resent additions to season 6... ManaMinori 4,110
Now we won't be able to tell which my little pony the movie is which, when we just say "the movie". Gen 1 the movie, or gen 4 the movie? Should have given it a different name, since "my little pony the movie" was done by g1 already

Should have given it a different name, since "my little pony the movie" was done by g1 already Considering Spike's probably going to be the only character that appears in both movies, I think it's easy to tell which movie is being discussed just by context. Not to mention the 86 movie isn't exactly discussed that much, so it's probably easier to assume people would be talking about the newer 2017 movie. And fans can always just reference the year it came out, just like how people refer to the different Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle cartoons as TMNT 87, TMNT 03, and TMNT 2012.
