As of yesterday (June 23, 2016), the World-Famous North American Privately-owned zoo in Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada (where I live right now), known for the use of its animals in Hollywood films (Life of Pi is one good example), documentaries, etc., has announced that they will shutdown after the 2016 season. I am very saddened by this, it's not even funny. I've only been there once when I was very young. :(

It all started when PETA misleadingly showed the world that the owner was being abusive to one of the tigers late last year, and because of that I hate them for it. They have ruined the reputation of a privately-owned zoo that was highly respected for many efforts.  :okiedokieloki:

It will shut down 3 YEARS shy of its 100-year Anniversary.  :unamused:

Now I have to chase the opportunity to visit it once more this summer before it closes down for good.

Do they have a reason as to why it's shutting down?

Lack of visitors due to folks believing in the PETA allegations that the director was mistreating his animals.

Wow... This blows.

Kids are really lucking out here, because the zoo was always an experience I loved as a child, it's sad to think that today's kids will miss out on that.

PETA at their old tricks again.. should come as no surprise whenever controversy surrounding world Zoos crop up you can bet they're at the head of it all.

You'd swear these places are like public concentration camps to them.

I have to say though, I just watched the video PETA made. even if the Director says it was heavily edited, the parts they show cased was still kind of nutso.

And here is their response on that:

There is a 4 - 5 minute version of this, yet I only found that shorter version on Facebook. The Longer video has a purpose to explain everything in detail and show that they truly are telling the truth, as they know the place much better than the general public.

Watched it as soon as I was notified of you quoting me,

I'm still 10 minutes into it, and I gotta say , PETA pulled a dick-move. Goodness, I feel bad for the guy. Officially no longer trusting any source from PETA, they have lost my trust.  :okiedokieloki:

I just finished it , and noticed that PETA has since added an additional minute to the video where he speaks about the wolf. I begin to wonder if they cut out the mouth just so they could doctor the voice , they've done it before, I wouldn't put it past'em to do it again.
