"Silver spoon"!!! One of my favorites to come by. Although I'm not going to say it's the best anime out there, but it's definitely an easy- going, slice-of-life sort of show.

If you're looking for something more action packed I'd say "Btooom!" (I've watched a bit of it to be honest, but I have read the manga!)

If you want drama and frustrations then watch "Nana."

How about some school life with a tentacle monster? "Assassination Classroom."

Or maybe something cutesy like "Yuki Yuna is a Hero?"

Maybe you're someone who'd like "Welcome to the NHK."

These all I have watched and cried and have read the manga to. So I guess I'd obviously recommend these.  :adorkable:

AH! "Toradora" is also a school life- romance-comedy that I'd fully recommend. If you like that sort of thing.

-Blue Exorcist

Dammit! I knew I was missing a big one...

34?? You had the time to put 34 on there? Wow.

I type around 80 words per minute, so it didn't take long. Besides, it's not even a long list. Should see the list of Anime's I've already seen. I think it has around 150 in there...

Haha, don't get me started on anime!! I'll just name a few of my favourites, and some that are good for beginners.

Beginners:

Ouran High School Host Club

Haruhi Fujioka is a scholarship student at the prestigious Ouran Academy, a fictitious high school located in Bunkyo, Tokyo. Looking for a quiet place to study, Haruhi stumbles upon the Third Music Room, a place where the Ouran Academy Host Club, a group of six male students, gathers to entertain female "clients." During their initial encounter, Haruhi accidentally knocks over and breaks an antique vase valued at ¥8,000,000 (US$80,000 in Viz Media's translation) and is told to repay the cost in service to the club as an errand boy. Haruhi's short hair, slouching attire and gender-ambiguous face cause her to be mistaken by the hosts for a male student. After a brief run as such, the Hosts soon realize that she's a "natural" in entertaining girls and promote her to full-Host status. She agrees since Hosting will help her pay off her debt more quickly. The members of the club discover her true gender one by one, but they keep this fact a secret.

I found this anime absolutely hilarious~!!

Sword Art Online
In 2022, a Virtual Reality Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (VRMMORPG) called Sword Art Online (SAO) is released. With the NerveGear, a helmet that stimulates the user's five senses via their brain, players can experience and control their in-game characters with their minds. On November 6, 10,000 players log into the SAO's mainframe cyberspace for the first time and discover that they are unable to log-out. They quickly discover from Akihiko Kayaba, the creator of SAO and NerveGear, they must reach the 100th floor of the game's castle and defeat the final boss if they wish to be free. Those who suffer in-game destruction or remove the NerveGear out-of-game will result in their real-life deaths.

I found this anime very emotional, and it has great romance!

Claymore

In this world, humans coexist with demonic predators called Yoma. These demonic beasts feast on human innards and can blend into human society by taking on human appearance. As a counter force, a mysterious organization created half-human, half-Yoma warriors known as the "Silver Eyed Witches" or "Claymores," after the huge claymore swords they carry. They are detested by humanity however necessary.
The story begins with a young boy, Raki, who has lost everything in a Yoma attack, and the Claymore, Clare, who is generally detested by society. Throughout the series, Clare and Raki show their deeper qualities, powers and Clare's never ending devotion to the goal she swore to fulfill in her childhood.

This was one of my first anime, and it has a fair bit of gore. I enjoyed all the fights!

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

Alchemy is bound by this Law of Equivalent Exchange—something the young brothers Edward and Alphonse Elric only realize after attempting human transmutation: the one forbidden act of alchemy. They pay a terrible price for their transgression—Edward loses his left leg, Alphonse his physical body. It is only by the desperate sacrifice of Edward's right arm that he is able to affix Alphonse's soul to a suit of armor. Devastated and alone, it is the hope that they would both eventually return to their original bodies that gives Edward the inspiration to obtain metal limbs called "automail" and become a state alchemist, the Fullmetal Alchemist.

I've never finished this anime, but from what I've heard it's one of the best!!

Soul Eater
Death City is home to the famous Shibusen, a technical academy headed by the Shinigami–Lord Death himself. Its mission: to raise "Death Scythes" for the Shinigami to wield against the many evils of their fantastical world. These Death Scythes, however, are not made from physical weapons; rather, they are born from human hybrids who have the ability to transform their bodies into Demon Weapons, and only after they have consumed the souls of 99 evil beings and one witch's soul.

Soul Eater Evans, a Demon Scythe who only seems to care about what's cool, aims to become a Death Scythe with the help of his straight-laced wielder, or meister, Maka Albarn. The contrasting duo work and study alongside the hot headed Black☆Star and his caring weapon Tsubaki, as well as the Shinigami's own son, Death the Kid, an obsessive-compulsive dual wielder of twin pistols Patty and Liz.

This anime is hilarious~!! It's also full of loads of super cool fights, but it also has it's darker moments.

Fruits Basket Genres: Comedy, Drama, Fantasy, Romance, Shoujo, Slice of Life

Tooru Honda is a 16-year-old orphaned girl who gets invited to live in the house of her classmate, the handsome boy Yuki Souma, and his cousins, 16-year-old Kyou and 27-year-old Shigure. However, these young men and parts of the rest of their family (both close and distant) hold a curse; if they are hugged by the opposite gender, they transform into animals of the Chinese zodiac. Every day is an adventure for sweet Tooru, as she gets to know everyone in the large family better (especially Yuki and Kyou), in both common and bizarre situations. But, the Souma family curse is certainly no laughing matter... It also holds horrible cruelty and heartbreak.

I managed to get my cousin obsessed with anime by introducing her to this anime, It's a very sweet anime.

My Favourites:

A Certain Scientific Railgun

The student-filled Academy City is at the forefront of scientific advancement and home to the esper (Espers are people with powers) development program. The seven "Level 5" espers  are the most powerful in Academy City, and ranked third among them is middle schooler Mikoto Misaka, an electricity manipulator known as "The Railgun."

When strange incidents begin occurring throughout the city, she finds each crime to be connected to the elusive "Level Upper," a legendary device that allegedly increases the esper level of its user. As the situation escalates, it becomes apparent that there is more to the Level Upper than meets the eye, and that Academy City may be a far more twisted place than the glamorous utopia it appears to be.

This is my all time favourite anime! The entire cast is super lovable, and it's full of hilarious moments~!!

Coppelion

Genres: Action, Sci-Fi, Seinen
In 2016, a meltdown of a nuclear power plant creates a big catastrophe in Tokyo. 20 years later, the city has become a ghost town due to the high levels of radiation. From that area a distress signal is received. The Self Defense forces dispatch three girls from the special unit Coppelion to search for survivors. But why aren't they wearing any protection against radiation?

This is a fun action packed anime! I mainly love it for the main character Ibara Naruse~!

Spice and Wolf

Holo is a powerful wolf deity who is celebrated and revered in the small town of Pasloe for blessing the annual harvest. Yet as years go by and the villagers become more self-sufficient, Holo, who stylizes herself as the "Wise Wolf of Yoitsu," has been reduced to a mere folk tale. When a traveling merchant named Kraft Lawrence stops at Pasloe, Holo offers to become his business partner if he eventually takes her to her northern home of Yoitsu. The savvy trader recognizes Holo's unusual ability to evaluate a person's character and accepts her proposition. Now in the possession of both sharp business skills and a charismatic negotiator, Lawrence inches closer to his goal of opening his own shop. However, as Lawrence travels the countryside with Holo in search of economic opportunities, he begins to realize that his aspirations are slowly morphing into something unexpected.

This anime is absolutely beautiful, the interactions between the two mains are fun to watch, and you're bound to love Holo!

I'm sure you already found a place to watch anime, but if not, this is the best place to watch anime dubs!! http://watchcartoononline.com/

I just find that people prefer english when they first start.

Really? Most people I know started with subs, and stuck with it. The real voice-overs give you an accurate representation of the characters' emotions. At least in my opinion.

The 'best' anime is a very subjective manner. It deals entirely with what you think you would enjoy. Anime has its own genres, but there's still a lot of similarity with other visual mediums in the genres.

My favorite Action/Adventure series would be: One Piece (which is extremely long), Gurren Lagann, and Jojo's Bizarre Adventure (especially the 2012 series). FMA is generally a fan favorite, too. I used to consider it a top favorite series, but I have not watched it in years. I guess you could also include Trigun here. Then there's the classic Dragon Ball. It goes a little crazy in Z, but I enjoyed the action and I'm not an action person.

There aren't many other titles from this genre that I've seen that I would recommend. One-Punch Man is a fun little series, but its humor might be lost on someone who hasn't watched too many series like it. lol

My favorite Romance series would be... Well there's Ouran High School Host Club which is probably the funniest series I've ever seen. The Rose of Versailles is also an amazing series from the 70s. I include it here because it generally is considered a romance, but really it's more of a historical drama with some romance splashed in... Think Les Miserables. Think Les Miserables a lot. =P (Although that series is more centered around the romance, so maybe not the best example, but it's a similar setting and all). Nodame Cantible is good, but I never finished it. I liked La Corda D'Oro, but that's probably because I'm a music nerd. (That's the reason I ever watched either Nodame or La Corda d'Oro).

I liked Sailor Moon... when it was focusing on the story. Too much of that series felt like 'filler' and I just couldn't continue. It's so repetitive, but when it got to the story it was very entertaining.

I thought I was going somewhere with this, but I lost my train of thought... So that will be it. >.< (Although I will note some other series I like: Death Note, Monster, Lupin the III, Samurai Champloo, Steins;Gate, etc.)
