So I just found out that Pokémon Go is finally out, so obviously I freaked out, caught a few Pokémon on it, and went here hoping to find others freaking out, but apparently I'm the only one, so I made a topic. What are your first impressions on the game? Have you been excited for this? Have you found any good Pokéstops yet? Here is a place to discuss anything and everything about it so far. Have fun!

It doesn't necessarily have a region, but so far it only has the original 152 Pokémon from Kanto. It's free on the app store in most countries if I'm not mistaken.

It is on iOS. That's what I'm using right now. I've heard from a lot of people that it won't work on their device yet, so that might be your brother's problem.

Servers have been having issues, but I like it when I can get in.

 

I heard a rumor a while back that different wild pokemon will be region locked, and I'm curious to find out which pokemon are unique to which countries... Also a little excited because my brother is joining the navy, and he said he's considering working for the Silph Road (a Reddit organization dedicated to international pokemon transport and trade so that even people who cannot afford to travel can still catch 'em all) since he'll be traveling the seas in the navy anyway.... So that would mean I get a priority selection of rare pokemon from across the world, and yeah... I'm pretty hyped for that

Since this will most likely NEVER be released for Windows Phones, I guess I will never get to experience this. That saddens me, but I came to terms with it the moment it was announced. Windows Phones always get the shaft.

I downloaded an APK file as it's not out in my region yet. It doesn't seem to work properly for me :/ I'll wait until it's released in my region properly before installing it again.

We had a slowwww night at work. OMG. It was terrible. Some of my coworkers had downloaded this and were running around playing it. LOL.

 

I couldn't start it until I got home, though, as I do not have my Gmail password memorized. Not sure how much fun this game will be for me currently, as I do not drive or anything. It might become more fun when I move to college next month.

Mini Review incoming:

 

So I downloaded the game on both an iPhone and an Android device, and my wife downloaded it on her iPhone. Here's my high points of the game:

 

• A nifty idea, good for when you're exercising.
• Pokemon look pretty nice.
• It has a fun factor to it.
• Characters actually look like grown up and not kids.
• Catching Pokemon is easy and fun.

However I quickly started running into problems with the game...

 

• Crashes quite a bit, noticed it crashes more on Android than iOS.
• Little to no instruction. You're left to figure most stuff out on your own.
• Battery hog. Keep a portable charger with you in the car because this thing drains your battery like no one's business.
• Not really much to do. Was expecting a bit more of the pokemon experience we get on the 3DS, but this is definitely a bare bones game.

Ultimately, it's a nice attempt, but sadly Nintendo's lack of experience in the mobile market does show. This game is in need of some updates and polish before I would consider it the "gotta have it" mobile game of the now.

That's odd. A lot of people have been having problems with it, but my best guess is that it has some major bugs to polish before it will work for some people, or with all of the people getting it, the servers are completely swamped. Either way that should work out in time. Best of luck to you!
