Do You Think The Movie Will Mark The End Of Friendship Is Magic?

OK, so having just found out about the movie last night, I started thinking a bit. It's kind of odd that after so many years of sticking with the TV Series, you'd have expected something like this to have been made sooner. But why only now, after a full 6 Seasons and a Spin Off movie series, an IOS and Android game, tons of merchandise etc., did they decide to make a movie out of it? My theory is that they wanted to make the movie from the beginning, planning to use it as the grand finale of G4 when It's decided that the franchise has run It's course. What do you guys think?

I don't know. It feels more like it could mark the end of FIM than will. Given the possibility of a seventh season on the horizon before the film, I'm unsure what will happen. But will it end G4 (e.g., the FIM toyline, comics) as a whole? I don't think so.

I don't know yet, but I do know that I want it to be the end of FIM.

Really? Interesting opinion. How come you want it to be over?

I hope it's not the end.  But I have a feeling it is.

Only time will tell I guess.

Well, I guess It's a possibility, but FIM will end eventually, there's no denying it. As long as we can squeeze in one more season, and the movie turns out good, I'll be happy. I don't mind if they don't, but hey, 7's a lucky number to end on right?

I don't know. Movies never marked the end of Hasbro's generations before.

First time for everything I know, but it's not usually their tradition to do so.

FiM will end when it's good and ready.

MLP: FIM is the only Hasbro franchise/generation I'm really into, so I'm not familiar with anything before them. I don't mind if it does end soon, as long as it ends on a good note.

It didn't mark the end of My Little Pony and Friends and was smack dab in the middle of the original Transformers. I don't recall if the G.I. Joe movie ended it, but I don't think so. Plus wasn't there an EQG Girls movie?

No, I don't think it will end. As long as it is making money, it will continue. What I care about is quality and as long as we have excellent writers who care about the show and not just the paycheck, then FiM will continue without being despised by bronies.

Not sure, but I really want it to close FiM. I still doubt it'll end G4 though, lots of green paper walking to Hasbro yo, and there's tons of spinoff material with it

Equestria Girls Isn't canon to the series, at least that's what I hear. Plus, considering It's a spinoff, I doubt they'd end off MLP with something that different.

Yeah, I'm just thinking about the future. If the creators and writers of the show stop working on it, things might go downhill.

We've gotten Zero information about a season S7 and S6 is halfway done and about to start back up showing again.

Its very possible they're looking at the movie as an end point for the series.

Considering that Season 6 is still going through, I doubt they'd have revealed whether Season 7 was coming or not.

One thing, what you said is sort of off. You don't want G4 to end, yet you want FIM to end. FIM is G4. It just doesn't make sense to me. And why do we want FIM to end anyway? It's a great series as far as I'm concerned. Without it most of us wouldn't be here.

OK, let me clarify: G4 is the new generation of MLP toyline. FiM is G4's show. They'd be perfectly fine to finish FiM and continue G4 ponies

Well, I honestly think It'd be less hassle to just continue FIM instead of creating a new G4 show. FIM's perfectly fine on It's own, I doubt making another show would make that much of a difference.

let me check something, so by this do you mean:

You would like a continuation of G4 with a show featuring different ponies than the mane six (like the CMC or something with their own show)

Or

you would like FIM to be rebooted and continue G4 like how Transformers is done?

Just kind of confused by what you mean there.

I hope not.

If they do, they'll probably pick up where they left off at some point in the future anyway.

MLP is a toyline first and foremost. Which means that if they did finish the cartoon, the toyline would still go on for a while longer.

No one knows, but I'd prefer the continuation with the cuties or maybe a big timeskip to feature McFlurry  :P

Because I wan't the show to end on a high note.

If the film isn't FIM's finale, than whatever is the real finale will be very underwhelming by comparison.

Plus at this point many of the original staff that worked on the show have left already.

And I don't feel like there is a lot more to do with the characters.

Twilight is a princess, Applejack had her character arc done by episode 2, Fluttershy is much more assertive and confident than she was in the beginning of the show, Rainbow Dash is a wonderbolt, Rarity has her boutique in Canterlot, and has one in Manehatten, Pinkie Pie is basically in the same place she always was, and the CMC finally have their cutie marks.

And by the time the movie will be released FIM will be 7 years old.

For a children's cartoon that is a really long time to be producing content, and I don't think the show needs any more after that.

Makes sense. I don't care for the toys anyway though, so it doesn't really effect me.

Well said, I guess. It's gotta end at some point.

It'd make sense if it was the end. After six seasons episode ideas aren't going to come easy, and it's a logical ending. think it'll be the ending, but they could easily continue.

To be honest, I'd prefer flurry heart NOT be the "special" one of the group or group leader if they did a time skip with her: I'd rather they take the route of her being born an alicorn making her not well adjusted to the roles required of a leader (due to having Godhood handed to her rather than working for it), with her rather wanting to break out on her own and forge her own path instead, in a kind of rebellious princess kind of thing.

That being said, I'm not a big fan of Applebloom as team leader since she's so damned BORING.

Going to be honest, I'd prefer they try and step back, examine what the characters personalities and actions have been in PRACTICE over the past seasons, and maybe re-evaluate to give them some new goals due to the "no goals" situation.

I know the Cutie marks thing causes problems of Pre-destination and locking ponies into ONE thing to do their entire life and nothing else, but I still think it'd work to have characters grow with what they want to do in life.

As an example, How about having fluttershy step out of her comfort zone a little and try and help out that organization she mentioned in It aint easy being breezie that is in charge of stuff regarding rare magical creatures in equestria? It'd be interesting to see her step out of the ponyville exclusive circle and try and help out with creatures across equestria as well.

Or as another example, the IDW comics (I know I talk about this in virtually every thread this pops up, but I really enjoyed that comic) Mayor mare/AJ comic laid out a very logical and perfectly in character reason that AJ might want to step out of her farm and try and take on more responsibility in the world (like how the mayor runs ponyville) due to having a strong desire to help the community as a whole and having a very good skillset for it.
