woodgazer 71 July 12, 2016 Share July 12, 2016 My Favourite Mane 6 Pony: RarityHow did you find MLP Forums?: I guess I've known for some time that there has to exist some forum for MLP, but I haven't really taken the time to find it. At BronyCon a few days ago, I attended a Poniverse panel (I was the one asking questions about hostile takeovers and what qualifies as pony music - more opinions wanted btw) and realized I really really need to be a part of this. How you became a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic: (First of all, I can't really choose a fav Mane 6 character. It's just a lot of the Rarity episodes happen to be really really good!)When I was five years old, that is 28, neigh, 29 years ago, I reeeally wanted a My little pony board game for Christmas. My mom wasn't educated, but nevertheless progressive in her views on equal rights and that anyone can be or do anything, so she got me the game, as well as a toy pony with flowing mane, and a manebrush. I'm a bit colorblind, I loved (and still love) strong colors, and so I loved that game, and the pony doll too, though I didn't care much for brushing its mane. Truth is, I eventually cut it off!I guess the pony senses were dormant after that, me being sportsy and computery, until a few years ago, when I by chance found a t-shirt with a certain rainbow-colored pegasus emanating from light rays from the iconic prism, otherwise seen on Pink Floyd's album "Dark side of the moon". I had no problem wearing that shirt in public or at work. But I didn't look more into ponies; I didn't even know there was a show. What I didn't know either, was that my brother, around that same time, started watching the show, and he didn't tell me about it. I guess he thought I would disapprove! It was just last year we happened to discuss our shirts (him wearing a "20% cooler" shirt and he suggested I should watch the show. I did, and though I didn't hate it after the first few episodes, I wasn't really hooked. "Keep watching", my brother did implore me, so I did. Then came "Winter wrap up". So here I am. <3 I'm a 33 year old after school-teacher, from Stockholm, Sweden, now outside of the second city, Gothenburg. I do enjoy hanging out with nice people, but mostly end up doing stuff on my own (except for at work, the kids are truly great and I don't know where I'd be without them). This stuff can be running, walking or foraging in the forest (sooo I cornily named myself Woodgazer), watching tv shows (the British version of Shameless is still my favourite show ever besides MLP:FIM), cooking, eating, more eating, reading books (James Morrow is cool) and MLP comics, and, I guess, raging over contemporary politics being unfair to women, minorities and the working class. MLP, for me, is a breathing room when the outside world (in general and in terms of my own personal world) gets to cold and hostile. I'm not claiming to be perfect, but I WOULD like the world to be warmer (not climate-wise, like), more tolerant, and like our Mane 6 heroes, I would like to contribute to it being more so. My latest plan is to spread bronyism (I really like the idea of it being an -ism) by praising it, and wearing pony t-shirts whenever I'm around people (I'm up to 9 shirts now. Would you like me to list them?). Some of the kids at work seem susceptible, and though my work oath forbids me to be political there, bronyism isn't a prevalent political term (yet?), and it mostly teaches love and tolerance anyway, so I think I'm in the clear! Also, I bought a few packs of the CCG game at BronyCon, and played with my brother during our trip, but he's gone back to his home in far away Stockholm now. I don't expect to meet any players from Gothenburg here, but... who knows? I guess I'm really interested in the way bronyism interacts with real life, do you have any pointers for good forum threads in the matter? (Did anyone else attend Sam Miller's panel at BronyCon? THAT stuff I'd like to really sink my teeth into!) Anyway, I'm looking to learn a lot about the forums and the way they work, and the way people here are. And it would be nice to have brony friends! See you in the threads, to begin with?
firephantom 30 July 12, 2016 Share July 12, 2016 Welcome! I recently joined as well! As for the way bronyism interacts with real life, there are many topics detailing merchandise (if you have any, besides your fabulous shirts.) There's "Beyond Equestria," which is a section most having to do with real life. There's even a life advice section there! Hope you like MLPForums! 2 Here's my ponysona/OC, Mystic Skies: https://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/mystic-mist-skies-r9648
PoisonClaw 8,174 July 12, 2016 Share July 12, 2016 Welcome, good sir! To answer your question about topics regarding how MLP and real life interact, topics of the like pop up from time to time in the Sugarcube Corner section (A sections that discuss MLP but are not entirely related to specific episodes or the show as a whole), though you may have to dig through to find some. Other than that, I hope you enjoy your time here! 2 MLPForums "Self-Proclaimed" Kamen Rider NutNow, count up your sins!I do Traditional commissions, by the way! See them HERE!
