Root Beer Brands - What's Your Fav?

Probably the most well known are A&W, Mug, Barq's, Dad's, IBC... and the list goes on.

What is your favorite Root Beer?

They all have their thing.

 

Barq's is good because everytime I go to Burger King they have what I call the 'Ambrosia Machine' because it has an option for Vallina Root Beer... And it is, well Ambrosia.

Sprecher's is good straight out the bottle. Plus they add a bit of vanilla to their flavoring anyway, so that makes it even better. They also got REALLY good Cream Soda...

I would have to say...Mug. The one I don't like too much is Barq's.

I have noticed that some root beer brands taste better than others, but I can't say that I have a preferred or favorite one. Pretty much all root beer ultimately tastes the same to me, but I do enjoy Dog n Suds quite a bit.

I'm gonna have to go local for mine and nominate Water Street Brewery's root beer. They sell it in big glass jugs and it's so damn good. Light on the foam. Heavy on the flavor.

A&W. Barq's, IBC, and Mug are great, but aren't quite at the same level. I've never had Dad's so obviously I can't compare it to anything.

I have always liked Hires the best. But to be honest I haven't had it in years. I wonder if it's still around. I'll have to look into this. Mug, A&W, IBC and the like are all good, when they come in glass bottles. I guess that's the only way you can get IBC.

Root Beer and aluminum cans are enemies in the wild and should be kept separate.

I like any root beer but A&W's always been one of my favorites.

 

Ever since I discovered alcoholic root beers, I've taken a liking to Coney Island Hard Root Beer. Then I found Jed's which quickly became my new favorite.

Geeze, hasn't anypony heard of any other brands besides Mug, Barq's and A&W?

 

I consider myself a connoisseur of root beers, or as I like to call it, "root marm".  (Simpsons reference.)  Root beer seems to have a spectrum ranging from minty tasting on one side, to meaty tasting on the other.  E.g. Tommy Knocker and Bundaberg root beer tastes like bacon flavored dog treats, and Sparkz root beer tastes like Altoids.  I don't like either of those extreme sides.  I prefer the pure root beers, right in the middle.  You also have the root beers that are overly sweet and taste like ice cream.  Kind of a float already in a bottle.  Henry Weinhard's is like that.  Strong vanilla flavor.  Don't really care for those either.  I guess my tastes are picky, but I still consider myself a connoisseur because I love to try and catalogue everything.

I have a really specific preference of A&W from Canadian A&W stores. Otherwise I like Sioux City Sarsaparilla.

Maybe it's just for nostalgia, but I'd say Mug is my favorite. A&W is a close second. Barq's is decent enough, but I don't think it's really all that good.
