Going against what everyone expected, the writer for Legend of everfree will NOT be josh haber

http://www.equestriadaily.com/2016/07/writers-for-equestria-girls-legend-of.html

its instead Joanna Lewis and Kristine Songco who brought us Gauntlet of fire

Personal opinion time here, but the fact that haber is NOT the writer has just boosted my hype levels by 100%; the fact that its the writers of Gauntlet of fire double that.

Loved every episode they've written except for Hoofields And McColts, with Rarity Investigates being one of my favorite episodes in the show. It'll be interesting to see what they do with this one, as I think it'll be a fun one

Ooh, the writers of "Rarity Investigates!". This should be interesting. Haber was never a great fit for more plot-driven stuff like two-parters and EqG movies... but at the same time, I don't think Lewis & Songo's style fits any better, so I dunno. Their character dynamics are fun, but their plotlines are all fairly lightweight  I can dream of a Haber-written slice-of-life, character-driven EqG movie, but those two might be able to bring some fun characterization if nothing else.

Yeah, I will admit, despite how much I love their overall portfolio, Hoof fields and the McColts was pretty weak.

But I'm still hyped for them.

I don't know, they did Gauntlet of fire and that was a decent adventure episode yeah?

They managed to do an Adventure episode without causing plotholes at any point, which is very rare in MLP Adventure episodes, so I have to applaud them. (Well, there is the quibble of people saying Twilight should have been able to take garble in a fight when he was threatening her and rarity, but that's about it).

Well Friendship Games and the Cutie Re-Mark for the most part are the only episodes from him that I really like (despite Starlight's redemption) but he has written some of my least favorite episodes such as Simple Ways and Bloom and Gloom.

So I think I am fine with this.

I really enjoyed Gauntlet of Fire and Rarity Investigates was a pretty interesting episode, so hopefully LOE ends up being good.

I like his early episodes enough, they weren't my favorites or anything.

But I forgave them because he could only improve.

And HE DID, Cutie remark is my overall favorite two parter, and FG is my favorite EQG film

But these writers wrote Gauntlet of Fire...that means they will do a good job.

I found it kinda formulaic and lightweight. Fun enough, but doesn't exactly promise taking Equestria Girls in the directions it needs. They work better at subtle characterization, which I felt "Gauntlet of Fire" generally lacked.
