[8-Bit] Shine Like Rainbows

Hello everypony! /)

First off, please note that I'm not a musician, nor have any experience at this, so go ahead and tell me how terrible it is!  :muffins:

Okay, so more than a year ago, I found few 8-bit pony songs that I loved. In their descriptions, I've found the name of the software, that was used to make them. I got curious, so despite the fact, that I never was into music making and the lack of any knowledge, I've started toying with it.  :derp:

After having fun and failing so badly, I've decided to test what I've learned in about a week and make an 8-bit pony song by myself.  :sneer:

Because I couldn't find 8-bit version of 'Shine Like Rainbows', I've decided to put my hoof into it.  :-P

So here it is! Shine Like Rainbows in 8-bit, that I've made more than a year ago!  :twi:

I hope it's actually not that bad!  :adorkable:

Enjoy!

Ok.

Pretty good. You want to make sure that those upper plucked square waves are a little louder. Also, I see you were trying to get that lead pulse wave on the melody to have a guitar-like feel to it. Great idea! Just make sure you have a sharp plucked attack to it. Also, I wouldn't keep the melody running on the same pulse wave throughout the entire song. Maybe sub the pulse wave out for a hallow classic Super Mario Bros square wave. Move the pulse wave to short plucked popcorn pulse waves. A popcorn wave is any wave that has a very short sounding note. It sounds like a pop.

Your percussion was perhaps your weakest link in the piece. You might first want to raise the volume. After, add some high-hat and fill-ins to areas of the piece.

All in all, good start but it could use some more work. I'm here if you need any help in what I said in my critique.

Yeah, the techniques I've used and such are laughable.  :D

Almost everything there should be changed to be honest.

That's also because I didn't care much for quality, due to slow-to-navigate interface.  :derp:

Now I have moved to another software, so I'm discovering and trying different sounds. My works will still be bad, but I'm learning new stuff each day.  :-P

Thanks for critique ~ I'll be keeping these on mind when working on future projects.  :)

I'm no musician, nor do I have any experience with making 8-bit music, but it's a fun listen. :) I'll definitely be keeping an eye on your channel for any future projects. :D

YAY!  :yay:

Thank you!

Currently I'm working on a next 8-bit cover, so ears can still explode! :D
