Is Luna a trouble magnet for Equestria?

With the possible exception of Chrysalis (whose backstory we know nothing about from the show, comics notwithstanding), all the major villains were defeated originally by Celestia and Luna. No villains have been introduced that were defeated by Celestia alone during the thousand years that Luna was gone (except NMM herself, for obvious reasons). Is it possible that the major villains were somehow connected to Luna, or that Luna attracts dangerous magical threats?

Only the Tantabus was clearly connected to Luna, since it was her creation. There is no evidence that any of the other villains were really attracted by Luna. Also, there is the possibility that Celestia fought villains that just haven't returned for whatever reason. Maybe they were powerful, mortal villains like Starlight Glimmer used to be.

It's the curious paradox in narrative amount how evil will bring about a goodness to challenge it which also brings about more evil.

Comic books tackle this theme with zeal in characters like Batman and Superman.

When you get right down to it philosophical like ... the real threat to Equestria ... is us!

Poor Luna getting blamed for stuffs. :c I don't think there is a connection, though the dark power of Nightmare Moon could have made other villains make their appearance, that could be a slight possibility, but then that isn't Luna's fault really.

The comics flesh out the history of Equestria alot more.

Fact is, if you take secondary materials into effect, Equestria was SCREWED before the mane six and Luna got back in the picture; you had several Cities get devoured in the past, attacks on canterlot by other villainous groups that were BARELY repelled, and Celestia's had to have an MIB agency running around mind wiping most of her population to keep panic low about how many threats there are running around equestria.

Granted, I Try to pretend the whole "S.M.I.L.E.S." crap doesn't exist (Still think its terrible and hokey), but regardless, the comics show that equestria was tottering on the edge of disaster many times in the interim.

To say none were defeated by Celestia does not mean there weren't any villains defeated by others. And there's nothing really to say that there weren't any villains in Equestria in all the time Luna was out to lunch. The reason we see more showing up in the timeline of the present show is because it's a show that needs stories involving its current characters. It doesn't mean other villains weren't handled by other characters in the past, we just haven't seen much of that because the show is about the Mane 6 and their exploits in their timeline. I'm sure if Twilight took a look through the vast history of Equestria, she'd find a lot of baddies. In fact, if the writers ever get stumped for an idea, you'll suddenly be hearing all about them.

I had a theory that King Sombra was the one that convinced Luna that Celestia was hording all the fame and authority of Equestria and may have taught her spells because both had the spell to turn into mist/smoke.

It was also stated that King Sombra was sealed away 1000 years ago... the same length of time Luna was sent away as well. So it could be after Sombra was sealed away with no other threats around, Luna begin to pay her attention to Celestia and Celestia became somewhat arrogant in her ways.

Note many of the accomplishments done by both sisters, Celestia got all the praise for and Luna was snubbed.
