The magic of a good bra (How women trick you)

Shankveld

Recommended Posts

Hey Shank, le awkward question, is there a certain bra that can make my guy chest seem like it has boobs?

If you're a heavier guy and have 'moobs' normal push-up padded bras can work.

If you're flat chested, use clear tape to tape your pecks together (to give you a line of cleavage), then pick out any cup sized bra and fill it with cutlets (to give it the jiggly breast look and feel).

Yes, girls almost will always wear bras that are at least a cup size too small, and most likely a rib size too big.

In high school I needed my measurements taken for a dress that was being made for me for a play. At the time I was wearing a 36B bra, but my measurements said that my rib size was 34. So I upped to a 34C. Over the summer though, I was reading about bras and how they're supposed to feel and I discovered that my bras were feelings rather... tight and pokey. I was browsing around Victoria's Secret one day and a lady came up to me and measured my size. She said I was a 34D. I tried on some bras and they felt so much more comfortable. But I couldn't afford to buy anything from Victoria's Secret that day so I went to Kohl's the next day and bought some new bras in the right size. They are definitely more comfortable, but I can feel the wire too much... I might have to keep shopping for the right type of bra. *shrug*

But when I found out that I was a D, I thought to myself, "No way, my boobs aren't that big, how can I be a D?" But Shank is exactly right about why women think they're a smaller size than they actually are. We compare ourselves to the fake women we see in magazines and catalogs.

Also, the person who talked about how his perception of women was formed by anime reminded me of something. Am I the only person on the Internet who actually believes that porn hurts men's perceptions and expectations of women? You can consciously know that a woman looks fake (just like you can know that anime boobs are fake) but does your subconscience understand it that way? Why allow yourself to be turned on by something that's not real so that you won't be turned on by a real woman?

I have a friend who dated guys who kept telling her that she needed bigger boobs or that she needed to do this or that to look good. Unfortunately, there are guys whose minds are formed by the women they see in magazines or in porn that do not represent who women actually are, and it turns them into assholes with unrealistic expectations of a woman, and he thinks that he has the right to tell her how to make herself more sexually appealing so that he can be more turned on by her. This turns women into sexual objects for men, and that's not a woman's purpose. You'd think that the feminist movement would get rid of that kind of backwards thinking by now...

I don't get why some people are so hung up about breasts. Who cares? I personally just wear what's comfortable, regardless of whether it's 'pretty' or makes my cup size larger.

How did I end up here...?

Anyways..

I actually find extremely large breasts kind of gross. I mean it just reaches a point where they're just too big...

I don't like them really small or really big, I like them just right ;)

This :3!

They're sacks of fat with nipples on them. I don't see why girls worry so much. Or why guys obsess over them.

A nice, round butt is better anyways.

Thank you so much for writing this <3

I wish every man in the world could read this.

You brought up one of the many reasons I am against pornography.

Sadly the world is still very anti-woman,

and people are under the misconception that feminism is a thing of the past.

I highly dislike bras. On of the main reasons being, they're probably one of the most expensive garments you'll buy. If you take everyday wear, assuming you're not wearing any designer brands, you're paying the most for the amount of fabric you're getting. I've bought entire outfits that didn't cost as much as my bras. But not only are they expensive. They're basically useless. When you're a certain size, I understand actually needing the support, and that's fine. However, I'm fairly well-endowed, and I've found that I really don't need one for any kind of support. I'm completely fine without one - no pain or ill effects. Wearing a bra, on the other hand, is very uncomfortable for me. And it may be that I'm not wearing, exactly, the right size, but I've measured, so I'm probably close, and anyway, to find a bra for myself, given my size and stature, is nearly impossible. Anyway, at the end of the day, there's nothing better, for me, than getting out of that contraption, and letting my chest just relax for a bet. And what, exactly, is the purpose of this? Well, there is none. At least, not a practical purpose. As I've said before, I don't need a bra for support purposes, and as a D-cup, most people are either my size or smaller. So, unless you fit into the quarter of women who are bigger than that, there's really no reason to wear them for support purposes, either. So really, it all comes down to an issue of image. We're, essentially, forced into wearing bras because of this certain image which other people want us to uphold. And this image and way of thinking is so ingrained, it's socially unacceptable for women -not- to wear a bra, which is ridiculous. If you want to wear a bra, I'm fine with that, and I support your decision to do so. I just wish there were room in society for people on the other side of the spectrum, such as myself, to not have to wear a bra without being thought of as homely and without self-confidence. It'd sure save me a chunk of change which I don't really care to spend in the first place, as well as making me quite a lot more comfortable, both physically and emotionally. </rant> :P

I gotta disagree with you here. I'm a 40D and I'm INCREDIBLY uncomfortable going without a bra. Different people have breasts of varying shapes, sizes, and firmness, and what may be right for you might not work for others. If I got without a bra, I can't do any sort of high impact activities without serious discomfort. When I'm not physically uncomfortable, I'm mentally uncomfortable. It's kind of annoying jiggling all over the place with the slightest movement, and I get enough of that with a bra on. And yeah, I do wear a bra because I do like the way it lifts and shapes my breasts, but I'm still comfortable enough to go braless around the house and in certain outfits. But in most cases when I'm out and about in society, it's just much easier on me to slap on a bra. Really, they arent even that uncomfortable to me.

But on the flipside, you're totally right that it's unfair that women are expected to wear bras. I mean, boobs are literally sacks of fat and other heavy tissues, so why is it so unacceptable for them to sag? It's silly. If you don't want to wear a bra, you should be able to without other people taking offense at it. At the end of the day, the way a person chooses to present themselves should be their decision, and people shouldn't go out of their way to harass you for wearing (or omitting) articles of clothing that make you comfortable.

Within a reasonable limit, of course.

Reading through this thread, I found someponies talking about anime creating unrealistic expectations so I wanted to mention an anime-style game that might be changing perceptions - Disgaea!

Disgaea from its first game has had two main characters with, brace yourself, flat chests! Don't believe me? Here's Etna:

I personally find her very attractive.

The other is Flonne:

The main male character Laharl is comfortable around his two flat-chested companions. At one point in the game, he is confronted with succubi and nekomata - two races in the game with big boobs and he admits to large breasts making him uncomfortable.

As the series continues, the game continues to provide female characters with large breasts (succubi and nekomata being the most famous) and flat-chests units (female archers). The 4th game has something of a "political" feel and one of the girls straight up asks if you are a ReBOOBlican or a DemoFLAT. Oh, and if you talk to a Nekomata, one of her comments is something like "I always catch demons staring at my chest - what's so fascinating about these lumps of fat anyway?"

Anyway, my point is that Disgaea is one video game that presents women as pretty both with big boobs and without. Beauty Queen Etna gives women a sexy cosplay without needing padding.

If a woman is facing me, first thing I notice are her eyes. If she is not facing me, well...

"Also, i'm more of an ass man" they say men are attracted to asses because they resembles breasts, but because the amount of 'nice sized' breasts are few and far apart, ass attraction has become more popular.

And I would disagree - breasts are attractive because cleavage resembles butts, not the other way around. Butts are not attractive because they look like breasts, butts are attractive to males because, well, if you are engaging in coitus like just about every other mammalian animal THAT is what you are looking at if you get my drift. Focusing purely on the physical, if a girl has a lovely flank, her boobs matter very little to me. Edited by DrOphthalmos

I agree that they are waaaay too expensive. And the problem is that I've found the cheaper ones to be worse in quality and far more uncomfortable than more expensive ones. :/

The non-designer bra brand I recommend most is Warners. For some reason I find their bras to be the best when it comes to comfort.

I do find that the right type of bra is more comfortable than going braless. And it's really, really bad for your breasts to run without wearing a bra because it tears ligaments in your breasts and causes them to sag even more. It's not good for your overall breast health. Wearing a sports bra or something similar is best while exercising, and wearing a normal demi bra is good for daily activities.

If a bra is still extremely uncomfortable to you, there are plenty of bra-alternatives out these days. There are wraps, suctions, and other such things to cover your breasts with, even if it's not for support but for covering up nipples when your body is cold.

When my mom bought my bras for me in high school, she'd pick out the kind that had a thin layer of cloth for the cup, and since my school building was cold during the winter, it was really embarrassing when my body would get cold. I found myself covering my boobs and trying to warm them up discreetly, especially since I had seen other girls' boobs and wondered how they didn't have the same problem as me. So naturally next time I went bra shopping with my mom I would purposefully pick out the kind of bras that were made of a much thicker material, not necessarily padded, but close.
