Less promotional material for this movie (LOE) than previous ones

Specifically, look at Rainbow rocks and friendship games Promotion by hasbro: they had several shorts and music videos made for Rainbow rocks, and several shorts and music videos made for Friendship games.
By contrast, LOE has zero Promotional shorts, only Movie clips: The teasers for the movie have no "groundwork" shorts being done or music videos, just clips from the movie.

 

 

 

I get that Friendship games was a massive financial blow to hasbro, but they really seem to have cut back for the expenditure for this movie: I didn't really care for the shorts for friendship games, but the ones for rainbow rocks helped lay the framework for going into rainbow rocks, and My past is not today is a good Prologue for friendship games.

Given how LOE is being made a netflix early release, I kind of wonder if this bodes poorly for hasbro's faith in the EQG franchise as an animation series?

Maybe they decided to spend the time, effort and resources on improving the movie itself. Friendship Games suffered for not having enough time, which could have been used fleshing out the Shadowbolts more. Sunny only had a few lines and we could not determine what if any defining traits she had, and although Lemon Zest had a defining trait, alas she only had a single line in the whole movie.

 

I wouldn't mind director's cuts at a later date when they decide they are "done" with the EqG movies, where removed scenes and additional material is added, as well as a few edits to plot/dialogue. I'm sure Sunset's original plan could have done with a few more steps...

I'd much rather have quality than advertising. However, knowing Hasbro, they'll probably have some advertising nearer the release, maybe later this year?

I don't really know why this is the case. I would like to see some more shorts, but if no shorts gave us a better movie, than I guess I could live without them.
