Frame by Frame Practice

Recommended Posts

I just found out a few days that Toon Boom offered student discounts, so I made an investment and now I'm practicing.

I'll probably post new practice pony animations here, anything more cleaned up may get it's own post.

AJ Lasso

8 frames

24 fps

~3 hours

-- Tail looks flashy cause its missing every other frame, mostly do to laziness. AJ has a new frame every 2 frames. The Lasso has a new frame every frame.

Random Pony - Bag Kick

24 frames

24fps

~1hr 45min

-- A lot of 'missing' frames, no cleanup. In part practicing with how lazy I can be with those in between frames.

This is good, especially if it's only practice (am afraid I can't offer much in the way of critique as I know next to nothing about art and animation :s) - but I think this looks cool :)

I feel the forelegs are a bit too long, but as a whole, I like it . The lasso animation in particular is really good.

I really like this one, the knockback on the kicking bag has a nice feel to it and loops really well...

I was pretty pleased with they bag myself.

I did some frame by frame stuff years ago on a program called eztoon, I think some of the experience is paying off now, even though it has been, like, 8 or more years or something that I did that. Like riding a bike... or something.

Never heard of eztoon, then again I'm not really much of an animator. I do still like the bag though... The way you portrayed the weight of the bag with the skid and slow movement was really nice.

I'm taking an animation class this year. We'll see how that goes!

But yeah, I really appreciate these. Well done! ^^

Oh, that sounds like it'll be fun. I'm taking graphic design classes and just trying to teach myself animation.

I'd love a class in it just to learn some of the shortcuts and tricks they use. I've played a tiny bit with animation

in the past and there isn't an awful lot, or at least not a well put-together compilation, of that kind of info online.

Which seems super weird to me. I know some stuff, but it just seems like there's SOO much I'm missing still.
