It is your decision not mine, so go ahead and don't see it if you don't want to. I will see it, but not because I feel obligated to but because I love that sort of humor and want to see it because it looks hilarious.

 

I agree. Imagine if younger viewers were to think* that it was just another one of their cute CGI movies, they're wrong.

It is rated R for a reason and any parent dumb enough to ignore that and let their young kids see that needs to be slapped.

Watching the trailers and clips, I really like the animation. It’s even more impressive that the budget of the movie is just around 20 million, yet looks just as good as a Pixar film. But raunchy comedies aren’t my thing, so it’s very unlikely I will ever see it.

Simple solution to this: Don't watch it. The way I see it, I am intrigued that the film uses such an animation style for a very rated R film, so that part is kinda neat, but I have heard the film goes for full on shock value, so I probably won't be seeing the film unless I see it way later. Shock value for cheap humor doesn't interest me and if it doesn't interst you, weigh your options, read reviews. You don't have to see it if it just doesn't interest you.

Here's the problem I have with Sausage Party. It looks kinda nice, and the concept is interesting, but the execution just seems off from what I've seen of it. It feels like one of those movies that tries too hard to be cool by constantly using cursing and violence. I'm fine with cursing and violence, but the trailer alone takes it to a ridiculous level. Nothing really sticks out as original or unique about Sausage Party, as all it seems to rely on is the whole "mature film disguised as a family film" shtick. I'm willing to give it a chance, but It's certainly not something I'll bother to go the theatre for.

I'm afraid that's going to happen. Adult cartoons will always entice kids because kids don't know better and worse as you said, parents too.

It is at least up front about it and if done right could really add to the hilarity. I guess right now I am really in the mood with a nice dark comedy with raunchiness for good measure. SJW complaints about it being "racist" make me want to see it even more, I have a feeling those jokes might be the ones that make laugh the hardest.

True, it is not the fault of the creators though it is the fault of those parents being stupid and irresponsible.

True, it is not the fault of the creators though it is the fault of those parents being stupid and irresponsible.

It's not that I have a problem with raunchiness and dark comedy, hell I watch raunchy cartoons like Family Guy and stuff like that all the time. But you have to do it right, this feels a little too on the nose. If there's one thing I can give Sausage Party's trailer credit for, the way the twist was done was rather brilliant, but past "SHE'S PEELING ME FUCKING SKIN" I don't see much more to it.

I recently looked at the plot summary at Wikipedia, and I instantly said, "Oh, I get what they're trying to do."  These were basically trying to be "smart" with its ending. Yeah, I hate films that try too hard at being clever than they actually are. 

 

Oh, and as for adult cartoons, look I get why animation wants to look mature, but animated films need to think what they will lose once they go through this step. It reminds me of "The Little Prince," the problem isn't growing up, it's forgetting. As much as I want animated films to be vindicated as works of art that are just as respected as they should be, I don't want animated films to forget the fantasy, the wonder, the enchantment of what an animated film can be. I want an animated film to win a best picture, but I don't want films to be just as packaged, processed, consumed, and forgotten as the food or jokes from this movie.

It says something when animation aimed for kids are actually more adult than adult animation. Edited by Da King

Admittedly, I've been lucky not to have seen any trailers of the movie, but just a few weeks ago, my mom was downstairs watching TV, and suddenly I hear her shout "THIS IS THE WORST **** I'VE EVER SEEN!"

 

I talk to her the next morning at breakfast and I'm like "Mom, what the heck did you see?" She describes something that I'm pretty sure might be what you guys are talking about. Knowing how much my mom knows about quality of the movie industry, I'm trusting her word on it and putting my foot down.

I, for one, am really looking forward to "Sausage Party". I don't usually go for crude humor, but the clips I saw had me laughing out loud. It may make me sound horrible, but one of the things that made me laugh was the frying bacon.

I don't think I'll be watching it either. But that doesn't mean other people shouldn't be watching it because I don't want to. I like the idea of an adult targeted animated movie, but drug and sex references and endless swearing kind of turns me off. It's a cheap way to get an M rating, but you don't need an M rating to target the adult demographic.

Its easy to not watch it if you're well under 18 (gotta respect the ratings). I myself have seen it today and loved it, especially near the end that nearly killed me with laughter. But of course, narrow-minded parents don't understand the fact that this movie is not intended for kids! Besides, The Lego Movie back in 2014 is, in my humble opinion, is a kids movie itself yes, but isn't any better at all because its deemed overhyped and completely rushed throughout, which basically falls flat for the premise itself.
