Would you pursue a relationship with a copy of yourself?

They would share all your experiences from the past, but from now on would have separate experiences as a separate individual. Because of this, they may start to differ from you in beliefs and values.

The copy would be of the gender you are attracted to. If you are attracted to multiple genders, take your pick.

EDIT: I completely forgot about how likely your children developing genetic defects would be in a relationship like this. If you do this, don't have kids.

I love that you would ask such a profund question....

may I break it down?(not destroy, but actually give my opinion of its implications.)

My answer would have to be a resounding YES, but I would add that I would not want to have any children, I would adopt!

(also not looking alike would be useful....)

If I found a girl that was exactly the same personality and history wise, I think it'd be fun,  But I just don't think a genderbent me would be attractive to me....I think it'd freak me out O_O

Nope, there's such a thing as being too similar to one another. I'd feel like I was dating a twin sibling or something....e.e

Ehh...Guy me? Could be interesting, but I'd be interested in a friendship rather than a romantic relationship for various reasons, one of course is I simply couldn't be attracted to myself at all, genderbent or not.

I would also have to add, because you didn't state what kind of "relationship", and most are thinking of a physical... (though I think you intended it to be "more" than that) I would be eager for the companionship of another person...and sense I have a tendency to talk to myself already, I just figured it would not be so bad to have "another"  me to talk to...and hang out... but as far as the "physical" part... probably wouldn't happen... thus the "adopt" option...

I was thinking romantic (and/or sexual) when I posted the topic. Regardless, even having a friendship with a copy of yourself is an interesting subject.

I don't know how productive it would be to discuss and debate "deep" things with someone who agrees with you almost exactly. How could you improve your ideas and find flaws in your thinking that way?

Competing with each other could be interesting. You would have the same skill set, and you even would know how the other person thinks.

True, I would have to pick sides... but having a multi facet mind could be very useful....

Are we talking mirror pool magic with a genderbend built in or someone who "walks, talks and acts like me"? I talk to myself enough as it is with fiction running around in my head, but a copy. I think I'd get tired of me really fast.

I would have to say a resounding yes to having a relationship. To me they'd be just like a normal (non-copy) person, but more in sync and can keep up with me both physically and mentally.

Plus I've always been the adventurous sort and a free thinker *shrug*

Hell nah, I hate myslef as it is, a relationship with my clone would be catastrophic

No way, it'd just feel strange to say the least, furthermore there are some things I'mean still working to better myself in.

ya, we all got stuff we are not proud of... but just think, you would have someone to talk to about said problems...and after a while, because of the difference that adds up, it would be like having a twin! one that was literally there the whole time...

don't ask me why but I thought of Star Trek The Next Generation, episode, Second Chances.... but they had 8 years difference.

I had the Michael Keaton movie "Multiplicity" going through my head when I first saw this thread. (just with women instead of men)

Probably... Though regardless of gender we'd probably just be friends for the longest time, before entering a relationship... Makes me wish I could have a copy of myself right now... though most likely won't happen in my lifetime... The stuff we could accomplish together though...

I'm not sure what I would think of them, it would be cool but at the same time it would be weird for me.  I don't think I'd want to pursue that type of relationship with them, maybe just be friends.
